AIGH Capital Management new stake reported

AIGH, a small money manager out of Baltimore, added nearly 3 million shares in Q1 to the roughly 570,000 it bought in last year's fourth quarter. I imagine most, if not all, the newly acquired shares came via the OO. They now own 3.8% of the total shares outstanding and are the third largest shareholder according to Bloomberg's data after Soleus and my firm. But I also know that Bloomberg's data does not capture all the shareholder groups accurately, so they are really more likey the sixth largest shareholder.

Unlike Soleus, I don't think AIGH brings anything extra to t he TH party. They apparently are just a smart money manager who knows a bargain when they see one.

They seem to be overweight on biotech/pharma. So Leah et al got 4 institutions onboard, from what you say here in advance of, but likely expecting, an offering. Is that a good return for 12 months work? Presumably these guys are being chased by 100's of small biotech.

Others may differ, but I think it's a decent start on balance for 12 months.  There's certainly some shortfalls we've highlighted ad nauseum. But let's not forget they are financial investors like us and likely drove a hard bargain (maybe even harder than we know if the "technical difficulties" were last minute with them involved in it).  The plus is there's ...more

I think it is worth pointing out that the stock rose 500% or more on hopes for Egrifta and over 1,000% on Trogarzo. So, the issue is not incorrectly buying at bargain prices but not selling when the price was high. And we seem like we are in position for another big run higher in the stock, potentially even much bigger than the Trogarzo run if the cancer trial gets good results.  It is also ...more

I don't think long term investors who went through the roller coaster of company's valuation should be blamed for staying put. But I do think the company should be blamed for it.First they did the market evaluation for Egrifta which sounded promising as we waited patiently for those sales to materialize then they got the rights to commercialize Trogarzo so we ignored the shortcomings of ...more

Those 4 bought in the deal, well below market and with a warrant also with a low strike price.  The chance of them losing money in the medium term was close to zero.  There's probably not been one day their investment hasn't been in the positive.  That's a bargain alright!

Well she has been working hard to find buyers in those 12 months. Result was selling 1/3 of the company at a cheap price with warrants attached right after the good PR. Maybe she is due an increased salary for that great once in the life achievement? Specifically now when they have more money in the bank...

In all fairness it's not ir job to create the deal, I think mrs Gibson is a great person. The company had these issues way before her which leads me to think it's them more than her. And who knows the deal that fell apart could have been really good, we will never know. I really think Phillipe and the board is more of the issue here
