During his speech relaunching the “cancer moonshot” program, Biden pledged that ending cancer is a “White House priority,” promising to bring a sense of urgency to the fight against cancer.

Nixon made a similar promise 50 yeaes ago, back in 1971. The "as we know it" is important here, but talking about cancer is meaningless. It should be something like "cancers as we know them". So a multifaceted endeavour.

I remember that initiative, there is a lot of dedicated and hardworking people searching for a cure but must admit that I am more than a little suspicion there is an aspect of a "cancer industry" out there as I have heard way too many FIRST-HAND accounts of cures that we never hear about, I will leave it at that as that is simply my personal opinion and nothing more.

Many cancers can already be cured, as time will go on, more and more will be curable, and more and more will become similar to chronic diseases. Many cancers are already treated over the long term as a chronic disease, like many prostate cancers wher patients can survive 15-25 years post diagnostic, without ever curing it, but by being able to stop progression with regular treatments.
