The Feb 24 2022 CC with regards to the status of Trog in Europe did not in my opinion in any way prepare us to declaring defeat 2 months down the road........

Likely precipitated by upcoming milestones that weren't reflective of the small market and competition. If you give one Euro country low pricing, they all get it, so the economics shifted a lot with that one recalcitrant country they spoke about where they rejected the pricing offer.

I mentioned the possibility of shutting down Europe as a result of what I heard them say about rejecting Germany's pricing and the tiny sales. But I also said that having just paid Taimed a $5 million milestone payment last Fall, they might try to make it work. I guess they were on the hook for payment regardless so that really didn't factor into the equation. Europe has not been kind to ...more

This simplifies the situation for a white knight I guess... doing business in Europe is complicated.  We helped in 1918, in 1941 and in 2022 and what do we get in exchange.. a big f..ck you.

It really just points out how pricing in N Am  for novel life saving drugs for a small subset of people can be much higher than in other parts of the world.  The original model could have sustained a price in Europe of 60-70% of N.Am price (or maybe lower) ONLY if the volume was there. We have all learned the volume is not there. It would have been a stretch to assume you get to 1000 ...more

I guess the moral case for war is tipped over by the failure of one small drug. The fragility of democracy.

I am not against the decision but even Paul 's vomments on Trog in Europe exactly 2 weeks ago on April 13 did not hint at capitulation....He could have said then that they were re evaluating the path forward So for me it is all about transparency   and trust  Both moving a notch down

The head of European Trogarzo launch still was awarded 50% of maximum  bonus!!! Ludicrous!!!
Comment by Biobob on Apr 27, 2022 9:11am
Hey Denis Boucher you could try to get a 50% bonus too... we're mine.. 50% donus on 3.35$ would be 5$... I want mine too.

I just think it has to be the case that everything is fine and dandy until it isn't. This is about contracts, the contract is in place until it's decided to terminate the contract, I can't see a company ever saying we are thinking about ending a contract. It's in place then the decision to terminate is enacted, there is no public statement about the process between those two states ...more

No but you do lose faith when you witness bad investments like this in the first place time after time.. how much have they spent on getting Nash were it is and how much have they paid for Trogarzo Europe and then invested in this unfriendly jurisdiction...
Comment by Wino115 on Apr 27, 2022 10:18am
Your frustration is justified, but I would add that Trogarzo has not been important to the investment case for the last 24 months, and it won't be in the next 24 months.  It's nicely profitable in N.Am and grows a bit.  Egrifta is more profitable and any growth there helps cash flows far more.  But the investment case, at the moment, revolves around getting data on a ...more

Seems to me the greatest problems with NASH are external to the company. Sentiment has tanked. With hindsight the strategy that required the least investment has probably turned out to be the right one in terms of the health of the company. I've always preferred more Ph2 data but it seems now that probably would have emptied the bank account in order to generate data nobody is in a rush to ...more

Paul said this only  2 weeks ago  Well, thank you for the question. So, as you know, in Europe, not much can happen before you obtain pricing reimbursement. That is an endeavor - that is a country-by-country endeavor. We've been in discussion with many jurisdictions. We have been able to establish a fairly good price in many small European countries, but in the major countries ...more

This really makes you question what we think we know.  Paul said they were committed to Europe, but then a few days later they've changed their minds.  These guys are not building trust.  I see the rationale behind the decision, but good grief.

So with hindsight. The French decision was key to the futur3 of Europe. It didn't get slowed by the election. And it came in looking more like Germany than Italy. The failure to secure an economically workable French market has made Europe as a whole not worth pursuing. I think it's all there without any hint as to whether France would succeed or fail. As it turned out it failed. Would it ...more

The detail on Germany was a pretty strong signal on the direction things were moving.

Negotiations in France ( the largest potential market in Europe were "progressing"   I took the retreat in Germany as a negotiation tactic for other countries .....not as the beginning of the end
Comment by Wino115 on Apr 27, 2022 8:03am
Smart move as the surprisingly low number they got from the latest countries and competition from Viiv don't make it attractive at all given its a licensed product with milestone payments in the future. Better to cut costs now and move on and not pay for the territory.  The fact it doesn't change their revenue estimates shows it just wasn't generating its keep.  SPCEOs ...more
