We have enough difficulty solving TH's issues

Might I suggest we leave unsolvable political questions to others on other message boards
Comment by jeffm34 on May 18, 2022 4:57pm
They are not unsolvable political questions. It's simply a reality that is hurting the company and the prudent thing to do is to relocate to a more open, business friendly, diverse region.  We sit here every day and wonder why nobody wants to buy into this company. A big reason is where they have chosen to do business. They are cut off by choice from the broad investment community and ...more

There's a kernal of truth in this, but lets keep politics out of this for now as if the science works, it won't matter where they are located. There are some world class Canadian companies owned by global investors so it can be done.  To me the bigger issue is that it's pretty frivolous for a government to actually care what language a business operates in. A bizarre thought for ...more

You don't really believe what you say. I read you here for a long time now. I know you are an intelligent person. You cannot be serious. You did not think about it properly. You say what you say because english is your native language and the esperanto of the 21st century. When your language and your culture is not threatened by anything, more than that, that your language is the language of ...more

No one has to take my word for it. Everyone can look at the proposed legislation for themselves. I'm hoping the government comes to their senses before putting this into law. If it passes in its current form it will hurt every company operating in the province.  Diversity can only strengthen a population or business. It is not a bad thing. There is only one region in Canada that is trying ...more

Stuff your woke sh*t where I think. You are for the so called diversity because immigrants in Toronto and Vancouver learn english, and only english. In Montreal, all immigrants learn english, because they have to, busnisses are asking them to speak english, same for the native francophones, power of english is enormous, but at least half of the immigrants in Quebec (first generation) do not learn ...more

All I care about is what's best for my investment in Thera. No one here can argue the company is better off where they are now than if they moved somewhere like Boston/Cambridge. There they have access to a more diverse workforce and investment community and would gain more exposure. The changes coming to Quebec will make that difference even greater and the case for moving even stronger
Comment by jfm1330 on May 18, 2022 7:24pm
You knew you were investing in a Montreal based company when you decided to invest in it. Sell your shares and avoid companies from Quebec. And you lie again, there is nochanges coming in Quebec that will force company not use english. This is pure invention on your part. Also, it sure that board meetings are in english, and also management meeting with John Leasure and Connor Walsh. Be sure they ...more

The Qc gov require new immigrants to attend francization courses, I know I've been on it. It was a lot of fun, a bunch of Afghans, Colombians, Cubans, Nepalese and Venezuelans. The potluck lunches were amazing. https://www.quebec.ca/en/education/learn-french

You are right. I was purely talking about a law that actually mandated a particular language for business.  That's sort of silly.  But glad to hear that is NOT what they are doing according to you.  It sounds like we are in agreement on that fact - that they are not doing what he says they are.

Read and decide for yourself. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bill-96-french-language-anglophones    If Bill 96 is passed, here are some of its points that may directly impact Quebec’s anglophone population. Doctors will be required to address all their patients in French. Speaking French will be mandated in companies with more than 25 employees. Fines of up to $30,000 ...more

Here's another gem from that news article written yesterday. The government will have the right to seize one’s work phone to verify that they are communicating in French.
Comment by qwerty22 on May 18, 2022 10:41pm
I'd say not quite seize in the first instance. But if there is suspicion a law has been broken presumably the authorities have the right to seek warrants and collect evidence for a court case (for any law). “A person making an inspection for the purposes of this Act may (1) enter at any reasonable hour any place, other than a dwelling house, where an activity governed by this Act is ...more

I thought this nonsense had been put to rest. The province lost a lot of Head Offices when the separatist movement and Bill 101 was passed... and now this absurb new bill ....This is how Ghettos are formed..... I always knew that JMF was a frustrated scientist but now we find out that he is a frustrated separatist....

That is th(e) problem!! There is no such "subject TH"! They began phase 1b, so now we have to wait for another x months to get any info!  And we and all the rest know they don't have the money for too long, so will have to search a way to get to additional cash!  And just like they said before the other "O O ", there are many ways to augment their capital ...more

Anti-Quebec sh*t from Vancouver. What do they really know about the reality in Montreal? Nothing. Frustrated anglophones pumping themselves because they cannot tolarate that Canada is not 100% english speaking. There a sick desire of linguistic purity in all of it. Allow us to assimilate you or die. Totally sick. Really looks like pro Poutine propaganda calling Ukrainians nazis. We have a saying ...more

I lived in Montreal for a period of time and have spent quite a bit of time in quebec.'from my experience there is a sense of arrogance just in that province. The thing to do is start speaking French. You'll likely murder the language so badly they'll switch to English just to get away from the misery of having to listen to you. That seems to be the way things work for me.
Comment by jfm1330 on May 18, 2022 5:27pm
Sorry SPCEO, these are totally defamatory comments that I will allow without saying a word. What this guy is saying is totally false and hateful. This guy that tries to present himself as an open person wants french speaking people from Quebec to totally assimilate and wants the province to be punished economically to be what it is and try to preserve what it is. Again, this is defamatory ...more

This is how extreme the new laws will be.  It will likely also mean investor conference calls will be required to be in French only. How many new analysts will be lining up to sit through a French conference call with no ability to ask questions unless they ask it in French? This not true, you quote hateful speech from Toronto. Quebec is financing many english hospitals in Montreal, also three english universities (McGill, Concordia, Bishop), also colleges. What this guy writes here is awful and hateful defemation.
