Maybe the drug shortage staff should accelerate their efforts in order for FDA to expedite their PAS review. HIV lipodystrophy often takes far too long to get diagnosed and all those patients who eventually are put on the drug(much smaller groups of patients compared to the actual patient group with the disease) will be loosing access to the drug and probably some will not get back on it despite the severity of the disease if not treated in timely manner. In this resent article based on some 32 previous studies PLVH with high VAT/increased waist circumferences are at much higher risk for ill health caused by serious diseases and even higher mortality rate.
This also should be explained to the doctors and their patients, loose that excessive belly fat stay healthier and live longer with HIV.
"Twenty-five studies characterized the relationship between increased WC and negative health outcomes—cardiovascular disease (CVD), arteriosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, hepatic fat and fibrosis, and cognitive impairment—among PWH. Fifteen studies reported on increased VAT and negative health outcomes: all-cause mortality, CVD, atherosclerosis, hepatic fat, and fibrosis.
Conclusions
WC may be a useful and cost-effective surrogate for visceral adiposity, which is an important marker of morbidity and mortality among PWH."
