FES.TO - PSV.TO acquisitions

Just a friendly reminder as Canada energy and energy services companies attract more and more international interest and suitors (Celtic is the latest example with XOM, PRQ and Petronas, NXY and CNOOC etc.)

FES.TO (Flint) was acquired by the US-based URS in early 2012.

FES.TO had a stockholder equity of $567M as of Dec 2011 (check SEDAR.COM) and URS paid 1,5 Billion EV thus pbv=3 for it.

The US-based FMC Technologies acquired PSV.TO few months ago paying pbv=2.
PSV.TO had a stockholder equity equal to $144 M as of June 2012 and FMC paid $282M.

Thus If TID was acquired tomorrow, the suitor should pay from C$2 - C$3.

TID will definitely be sold one day if you read the resumes both of the veteran President (founder of TID) Mr Dawson and the CEO. The President has created and sold 3 companies thus far. I just do not know when....

The sharp drop and the current recovery is the perfect way to make small shareholders forgeting that prices above 0.30 is the same in which the stock was a few weeks ago, and makes them sell so low.

Pioneer Energy Services (PES) sees problems in Q3 2012 for the companies which are heavily dependent on their Canadian and US-based operations......This is why TID is an acquisition target: Look what PES says in Q2 2012:The company has minor diversification geographically as it targets primarily the offshore and onshore U.S. drilling market coupled with a small exposure to Colombia. This U.S ...more

The  suitor  could be TCW (Trican) which is desperate to diversify  internationally  and make solid  profits   finally. Q2 2012 results  were  so  disappointing due to its North American operations.

I doubt trican as they are a fracker and service company. Tuscany is a driller.

This  is  what  diversification  means  dear  dbeaude. Diversification  mitigates the risk...
