QUITO—Ecuador's state-run company Petroamazonas last year increased its oil output by 6%, to about 326,600 barrels a day compared with 307,000 barrels a day in 2012, the head of the company said Tuesday. Oswaldo Madrid said in an interview that the higher output came mainly from the Oso, Yuralpa and Shushufindi oil fields. In 2014, the company expects to produce about 328,000 barrels a day. "Some of the challenges for this year are to increase production, improve oil reserves, carry out secondary and enhanced oil-recovery projects, and explore the southeastern Amazon region," Mr. Madrid said.
