A little snippet for the mushrooms "In the pit is low-grade ore so there is no need to take off the overburden. Normal circumstances require the company to give notice of intent to do so by filling out what is called a notice of departure with the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Cobb said, noting however regulators have decided this now requires more than a notice of departure, saying an ...more

So, someone who understands the works at Gibraltar better than me please explain.  Does this shut Gib down or just a portion of it?  Is this a change or is this the reason they are expecting Q1 and 2 to underperform 3 and 4.   What in the heck is going on with your permitting officials in Canada.  Seems like the the FN are greasing palms.  So much for beneficial ...more

I doubt this is FN issue, a lot of the workforce at Gib is FN. More with BC prov permitting....everyone on covid leave?? But really, why are we not hearing about this from the company?  That communication thing again.

Of course, I am guessing here. Why would tko feel the need to explain to us mushrooms what this means. Maybe need another presentation or video with non material stuff. My guess is this. The east pit was never mined as it was lower grade. But with high prices, it would b ecconomical now. So capex to strip it now is available.  Obviously they are done stripping at pollyana and gib pits and ...more

My guess is that they save 6 million on labour and 30 million on fuel and maintanence for one year layoff. So actually good for bottom line.  nf

Kinda Pollyanna-ish (pardon the pun) to think that NOT mining copper is good for the bottom line of a miner, don't ya think? According to the annual report, the plan was for most of the ore this year to come from Pollyanna while work commences with opening up Gibralter in the last half of the year.  The Gibraler pit will provide softer ore with better production rates.  That is why ...more

That the Gibraltar pit has no permit and they have known this since May 2020 is not material is it?
Comment by nofluff on Apr 22, 2021 1:20pm
I am confused. I thought it was the east pit that needs permit amendment. Did I get something wrong?? nf

Yea that works...maybe layoff all 700 emploees! For sure we'll have a bumper year with all the savings on fuel and other mine stuff!!
Comment by 2024golden on Apr 22, 2021 12:43pm
And they would be laying people off because of that...I believe the mine plan this year is to move into that pit. Can this go on very long without effecting production?  I have already asked BB all of this, he seems unable or unwilling to respond!  Sadly...communication breakdown!

Thank you KW. Why are we not getting a full explanation from Taseko....you know, so shareholders are kept informed and not jumping to conclusions without good info??
