Rail strike?

Will it happen?  If so how long?  Taseko transports by rail.

A strike affecting both major railways would also shut down grain, potash and a lot of other things.  To my memory the longest the government allowed it to go on was 3 weeks, but the federal government is not well liked right now so can't see it being long.   Don't have a problem with unions but don't believe that your pay should be based on how much harm you can do to others ...more

Rail strike won't affect Taseko, remember the mine is in British Columbia, Canada. Think about it, sheesh!

Huh?  Taseko ships by rail.  They supplement by truck.  A rail strike of any period will be detrimental to sales.  They will stack material and eventually catch up, but there would be an impact.  This is direct from the company.

If I recall correctly Taseko was in this situation before and Taseko was able to handle it.  I believe they reverted to trucking.

They can't.  Everyone wants trucks right now.  They will keep mining and stacking and try to catch up with shipping later.

I believe they need sealed end gates as the con is quite wet. They will produce about 4000 tonne per month. A truck on 24 hr. Shift could do about 50 tonne per day or 15000 tonne per month. So they would need about 30 trucks and trailers. Agregate haulers are short term guys. 30 trucks would be easy.  The sealed trailers, are more common now. So I  am quite sure they could do it ...more

The government ordered binding arbitration.  Under binding arbitration the trains would continue to run.

Unless they don't:)) Nf

Brian said they would stack concentrate and try to catch up on shipping later if the strike continued.  I asked.

That does make some sense. 1. They have much cash in the bank. 2. Rail is twice as cheap as truck. 3. Price will likely be higher later. 4. Seams like strike is over. Nf
