Recovery target

I don't believe that 90% sustained recovery is realistic.  This is Archean sulfidic ore.  Water and oxygen have never touched it in the billions of years since it was extruded from the core.  Without oxygen the ore cannot become oxidized (by definition).  Oxide ore processing is relatively predictable and less costly.  Heavily sulfidic ore requires optimized grinding and multiple techniques of separating gold from the base rock.  I would be delighted if they could achieve 88% consistently and they would be very profitable at that.

I feel that I must complete this thought.  Gekko is an Australian shake-and-bake mill technology.  Australia and southern Canada have Archaen ore but there is no permafrost at these latitudes.  Thus water and oxygen can penetrate the ore.  Water is the earth's universal solvent and opens up ore for oxygen and more water to penetrate.  Even though the mine is in ...more

Brilliant analysis. What a simple mistake/oversight which has led to a devastatingly poor recovery of gold. Hopefully management can turn it around.... soon!!! GLTA.

Thanks again for your post. I know less than nill about geology, metallurgy, ore recovery, etc. However, now that you've identified the problem as lack of pre-oxidation can TMR pre-oxidize the ore themselves before ore recovery. Say something simple like grind up the rock and throw it into a well oxygenated pond for a few months or a heap leach pad to oxidize the ore. Just some wild made up ...more
