2 for 1, sounds great to me

This should act like a 2 for 1 split. Double the shares split on a pro-rated basis depending on the valuation of each new company. Every time I have had a spit in a company I have owned it has always turned out positive. I am looking forward to this split and I hope it has a positive effect on the valuation of TRP share price going forward.

Technically in this case the share price is split as well. Depends on whether the market sees this as a positive or not on whether the price goes up.

If the market see this as positive or not does not matter, in the long run this will be huge positive in my opinion. The dividend is almost 8% now and it will be increasing 3 to 5% a year, what's not to like.

Correction, I bought them in 1988.

My point was that Brookfield tried this more than 6 months ago, splitting off into BN and BAM which was intended to unlock value to the benefit of shareholders. The market didn't favour this arrangement and to date, the combined entities still have not recovered to where they were pre-split.  Don't get me wrong, I'm still a shareholder and a fan of the Brookfield name...and ...more

According to the press release, the actual split into two companies isn't scheduled to occur until H2 2024 (a year or more away), so after the post-announcement hub-bub in the markets tomorrow and perhaps Monday, the volatility should ease. "TC Energy expects to seek shareholder approval of the Transaction at a meeting of shareholders in mid-2024. The Transaction will be implemented ...more

Hmm...looks to me someone figured out a way to reset the dividend without having to cut it.
