Wuss, I'm surprised that no one else on this board commented on this one. Our government does not want the source of the problem traced back to the actual Canadian farms and/or farmers who supplied the meat. Once again they are trying to let our farmers off the hook. No accountability whatsoever. Normally I'm not a proponent of the USA and their trade policies, but I'm with

DB - I agree the government should have been more agressive not only through the ag dept but as well though the human health dept.  Keep in mind that if the ranchers through the CCA had endorsed Econiche we would probably have a national program in place.  I think the accountability for no program is 3 fold - lack of understanding at the rancher level,  BNC may be partly to blame
