TVE share buy-backs start next week

My hypothesis is that no buy-backs have occurred yet. The real upward price pressure will start next week.

On page 26 of the investor presentation is says Q42023 is when they expect to hit their debt target that triggers a 25% shareholder return. There is a small note below that says it will be paid AFTER the release of the respective quarter. I interpret that to mean the buy-backs will start after the earnings release on Feb 28th.

Share buybacks already in January mate

Thanks for the info. Too bad, I was hoping that catalyst wasn't already built into the share price. Still looking forward to a killer earnings release next week!

There is more than one kind of catalyst.  I would be pleased if they announce that they are on track, or even ahead of schedule in:  (1) retiring debt  (2) NCIB  (3) guidance for '24.

TVE bought back and cancelled 1.5million shares in January. Click on the Insiders tab above to see the transactions.

Buybacks will do nothing with float this size. Maybe after a few years of buying 2 or 3 million shares a month but not now.
Comment by MLEWICKIMBA on Feb 23, 2024 11:21pm
The float is not that much considering 63K BPD and Massive Inventory. We are getting all the cash flow even though some is for further debt repayment. 1. Debt repayment 2. Dividend 3. Share buybacks -- even 30M shares this year is in the right direction. The balance sheet is already improved!  We will see that in a few days. The Dividend is systematic and covered with current sales of 1 ...more

Yes I own shares. You think we will be debt free end of 2024? I expect we'll owe 900 million end of q1 so I don't see it happening but I like your enthusiasm. 556 million shares is a wack of shares 32 million of which we need in safer hands than arc financial. 556 is high and is a definite anchor on the share price. Jmho. I believe the company is going in the right direction and tmx should ...more

Looking at quarter 4 I think things will be steady eddy.As been mentioned debt coming down shares being bought back and operations being very positive. There has been a lot of noise about consolidation in the clearwater. We are clearly not a buyer but I think tve would be open to a merger deal if the cards are right.HDX and Spur being the best options..

I seen a company news release buy back 54 million shares till Jan 18 -2025
Comment by cre8value4me on Feb 24, 2024 2:33pm
I hope there is no transaction the premiums being paid are extremeley low, I would hope that at least for the time being the stock be given some room to run. Does anyone have any idea if arc has finally sold out their position? Is it the shortes keeping this company down? Is it simply there are to many choices and perhaps better balance sheets in the space?
Comment by MLEWICKIMBA on Feb 24, 2024 9:50pm
I think the debt will be 900 million like you mention.  In 2024 they will reduce their debt further perhaps by 200 million.  That means they can start to align 50% of their free cash flow to share buybacks at that point plus we are getting the dividend.    It all depends on WTI/Brent and WCS Differential but as we know the next six months should be ok with spring and ...more
