Taxpayer's common sense letter to paper.

In the recent Oakville Beaver article titled, "Fight to save Glen Abbey gains ally," one sentence at the end needs to be repeated.
 
It reads: "ClubLink representatives said 54 per cent of the overall site would be preserved as publicly accessible green space."
 
This may not be a fact that is known by most Oakvillians. There are certainly problems with the development proposal, but perhaps it is time to start negotiating with the developer instead of using our tax dollars to fight it.
 
 
 
 
This will be a beautiful park area, connecting to Lions Valley Park, so that Oakville can have the kind of central green space we can all be proud of and enjoy.

With CDN real estate going crazy, sure land prices have been positively impacted but the more important thing for TWC IMO is the political pressure which is escallating quickly at all gov't levels (and all polticial parties) for affordability - i.e. increasing supply. Can't see how this pressure doesnt ripple through municipal planning offices and LPAT hearings. We will see, but I believe ...more

I agree with your thinking. Where else are they going to find significant pieces of land near existing services? Certainly the Province of Ontario seems to understand this and of course the alternative is more urban sprawl and less affordability.
