Telegraphing intentions

I believe Tidewater has already signalled that the next big deal will be a Renewable jet fuel plant.

That will require a big $ investment, and the sooner TWM can shed penny stock status, the better. More stock will have to be issued and any measures such as reverse splits, buybacks. black magic to generate a better market value can only help the company on its path to a better future.

What is the logic in embarking on a significant NCIB  when the company may require additional equity financing to fund the jet fuel project? The only black magic that would work would be to produce improved results, treat their investors with respect and/or sell off additional assets.

Yes, I don't think the company is yet in the place where shareholders would feel comfortable with them pursuing a large NCIB even at todays low price. They must show that the business can perform and they must show that they have a plan that delivers value to shareholders. Until that takes place, the reverse split and all of this other stuff is just nonsense. There is still a big mess to ...more

I sure hope they can demonstrate some stability & earnings from the current assets before they embark on another huge capital project (SAF).   I'm kind of surprised to be back to 52-week lows today with Q1 earnings on deck for tomorrow, particularly given the recent positive operational update from TWR.  I'm expecting Q1 results won't be as bleak as Q4 but I've ...more

Losing customers, large lawsuits.

I can see that they are losing customers, but I hear the potential for lawsuits. Is there more that you see ?

I don't think they'll be able to attract institutional shareholder interest with their equity trading as a penny stock. Institutional investors tend to like these long life infrastructure assests, but I think Tidewater has been hampered by a few strategic missteps. Selling shares in the renewable subsidiary simply hasn't worked: the stock is so illiquid it's difficult to see any ...more

The share consolidation through the reverse split is a minor issue compared to the major issue of the debt restructuring. There is a lot of work to be done to fix the credit facilities so that this is investable. The Balance sheet sticks out like a sore thumb because of the negative working capital balances. They need to fix this ASAP. If they can fix the balance sheet and clearly ...more

Good write up.  LCFS has a market cap of $275 million and TWM only has $295 million.  So market is pricing in very little value for any of the midstream assets which would make it an attractive target - we'll see how the conference call goes at 1 :00, but I'm not expecting any news other than on how they're working on their refinancing.  LCFS really did perform well in ...more
