Do we know if at Kraken the cretaceous is more likely

to generate oil or gas and if so why ?
I believe we are leaning towards it being oily but I'm not sure why.
Thanks a lot.

Apparently it's the consensus view of the T&T Geo's. Oily gas based on the old well on the Royston acreage.

I finally got the answer from Toolster1 on the UK BB, so Thanks very much to him wherever he is. So I now wonder, given we sortof know the dimensions of Kraken, just how much oil this zone could contain ? " This deeper Kraken play targeting the cretaceous is the biggest wildcard of all as the geological concept models the same play structure as Exxon's Starboek Block offshore Guyana ...more

Topside estimate mentioned was 3TCF which if it was oil would be 510m BOE. But they are "Pretty Sure" its gas, with a lick of oil But thats an IF, and thats "A we really dont know IF there is anything there at all." Frankly Royston is not in the bag by a long way and there may be no seal at Kraken, that seems to be the really big risk.

When the CEO names two huge targets after his Father and Mother you know it has to be dam close to being " in the bag "

One target is named after his mother?

Well just one letter out? Not that big a difference. Mind you I fancy a share price of $28.20 on the same basis. But for now will settle fir $2.82, as a work in progress number.

I was doing some back of the envelope resourse calculating and given the size of Royston/Kraken 3 TCF isn't beyond the realm of possibility.  First some trivia : 1 cu meter contains 6.29 barrels of oil. ( US Barrels ) Bearing this in mind lets give Royston/Kraken the dimensions of 2000 meters long by 1000 meters wide by 100 meters deep ( pay ) and you get 200,000,000 cu meters. Now we ...more

Yep the answer is "Lots" but one small observation is whilst they have been good at their estimates of width and length apparently it's clear they have been too prudent on depth with their multiple new discoveries to depth. That makes me wonder on the volume. But the key question is are the seals in place? If not it's just an expensive hole that finds some nice sand at depth ...more

<> That is true but not for Royston - that prospect is a LOT more than hot air and hope because 4/4 wells have shown the Herrera sands are part of an impressive petroleum system and by the way a prior well (long ago) showed 700 feet of nat gas pay in that structure. The odds of Royston being a discoverty have gone up with each piece of new information for the last 18 months. As for Kracken ...more

The best person to ask if XM. Basically, as I read it.........if Royston comes in good, then Steelhead and Kraken are significantly derisked. And would of course be the next two drills in Ortoire.

Xavier Moonan did an educational field trip along a seismic traverse line last week. (photos on his FB page). He was also awarded in January teh Grover Murray award for education in geology.  His FB page highlights the massive importance of the guyana-surinam oil fields down trend from our turbidite sands. Partly why they are excited to stick a straw into Kracken structure.  There is ...more

This was the field event that Xavier led on Febeuart 20. It was in south Trinidad, porbably on the Ortoire block.  I don't know how to figure out exactly where SBC TD 95-185 is.  The images of Royston prospect above are SBC TD 91-125.  Anyway, my pont is that Xavier knows a lot about the geology of the entire region.  I would love to hear his views on the Kracken structure.

I wonder if Kraken can be drilled from the same sight as Royston or is there a better sweet spot somewhere else. And steelhead would require additional road work and site construction I suspect. Would either of those be drilled shortly after Royston or would it make more sense to come back to Chinook/Cascadura and start a development program while the pipeline is being built. Build the wall of ...more
