Europe and especially England are having an energy shortage , they expect a long cold winter on the way. England has an energy cap on what suppliers can charge it's customers and now most of these companies have or are closing there doors because they can't compete . I also expect the US to be in a similar position just like what happened in Texas , the whole thing looks FLIMSY .

I guess what I'm saying is TXP is a good place to be and prices will be renegotiated

Really? Well the caps were already removed. Secondly the companies going bust were the ones who sold multi year guaranteed price contracts but had supply on rolling shorter calls. And they got caught out. Anyway they go bust and the bigger players come in and scoop up their customer base "for free" in exchange for "Fixing" the next two months problems. So it's dirt cheap ...more

Just some background as I have a friend who is an FD of one of those companies acquiring the customers from the bankrupt ones. His cost of customer acquisition is just 10% of what they were paying 3 months ago! As to the Russians, remember they have created this crisis at the point where Merkel was going plus Biden is seen as a foolish figure. The politics of Europe are realigning towards ...more

Your friend likely knows more about this than my contact since he is in the business . The long and short of it will be prices  will increase and gov will have a harder time saying inflation is transitory. Good being here............Go Go TXP

Not sure you are right as I think the U.K. will shed 500,000 pre Covid jobs that are now done with less people and better.
