Ore Shipments

Does anyone have information on how this company intends to deal with the 1/2 load restrictions imposed by the city of Sudbury? The restrictions are in place from mid March to early June. Do they intend to ship 1/2 loads or are they going to stop shipments until the restrictions are lifted? If they stop shipping now will this not seriously affect cash flow?

Therestrictions are in place from mid March to early June.I guess they'll shut down the mine until June, just like the 100 other mines in Sudbury. That's why Sudbury is such a terrible city for mining. (If this is an honest question from a first-time poster ...more

Yesterday I travelled on #17 from Espanola to Sudbury and didn't see any load restriction signs and also there were several fully loaded trucked travelling that stretch of highway (at least the logging truck/trailers were fully loaded). One thing I do not understand is why they didn't work out a deal with Inco instead of Xstrata to do the ore processing because it ...more

Why Xstrata??My guess is because the ore is so low grade Xstrata is the only one that would mill it by blending it.There is about 400,000 tonnes of are that is easily accessible right now (low cost to get at). At some point, they are going to have to remove overburden (5 million tonnes I think) to get to more ore from this Shakespeare deposit. There are two deposits on the property. I can't ...more

You made good points there. If Inco is unable to process the ore then that explains why Xstrata is being used. If they were to ship by train then an extra 30 km would not make much difference. The tracks run right along beside #17  into Sudbury. They must have a reason why they are not shipping by rail.

"Ask the tough questions."Good one, Tickle.  If only you had thought to "ask the tough questions" before your own IESO investment went to zero, eh?

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I believe I read in an earlier post that it takes approx. 6 months for Xstrata to pay for ore that is shipped today. If this is correct then the only revenue this company will see this year will be from the ore that was shipped from February 10 to now, approximately 21,000 tonnes as of March 4. I was on the Greater City of Sudbury’s website today and the reduced ...more

I was on the Greater City of Sudbury’s website today and the reduced load restrictions will take effect on March 17thif they haven’t already been posted. The date the restrictions will belifted is not known as the decision is weather dependant however I’mtold that the restrictions are seldom lifted before June 1st and could be extended if inclement weather is experienced. Take the dirt roads to ...more
