Strong fundamentals - (not so) crazy shareholders

All the prices of O&G commodities that affect the VET income statement are up significantly. Glad to have this stock in my portfolio.

The slide in the share price over the last couple of weeks seemed unnatural. I bought heavily during that time. I am convinced that these downward runs are manipulative drives by people that want to take the shares from weak hands, before a natural run up in the price. That is NOT the stated purpose of shorters in hedge funds.

It's a little scary to be on the downward spiral. I try my best to avoid these downward moves because there is no bottom too low, and I have no way of knowing how far that crowd will take the price.

If we take a measured run up from here, I will be very happy.

Although I understand the function of shorting to identify weakness, I have come to the conclusion that most of the activity is in the hands of "adult" bullies who enjoy robbing naive investors. The effect is a weakened equity market, a terrible reputation for capitalism, a siphoning of useful capital into the hands of useless tools.

Just had to get that off my chest.

I agree cleareye... now add in the good possibility that some of the write downs could be reversed this year and these O&G companies getting a rerating the big players (institutions) see this coming down the road in a few months and are positioning themselves for the big gains coming up.. shaking the tree hard to create frustration to the retail investors and hitting stop losses all the way up ...more

Regardless of VET's stock price, remember VET is printing cash as we speak.  VET has a history of returing substantial cash to investors.  As oil and nat-gas princes continues its surge, VET can only benefit.  With all that cash at hand, VET will have good options which could be to buy back its own shares and put the squeeze on the shorts.

I have 2 holdings (IPCO and VET) that are similar in several aspects . Both have production in Europe Asia and Canada. Both are producers in the 40 kbpd to 90 kbpd range of which more than half is in Canada  both have 40 to 45% nat gas and both are seriously undervalued  and very slow to react to improving conditions. The reserves levels are different in that IPCO has much larger ...more

I think it will move up and down with the wti price for now.  The beginning of March VET releases Q4 2020 numbers. If they can show total debt at or below 2B exiting 2020 then share price will skyrocket.
