Exchangeable no rechargeable batteries

Until you can drive into a 'station' and have them remove the battery and give you an exchange, the same as propane bottle exchange system works, EVs are going to be an unsatisfactory means of transport for a whole lot of folks. 
  Meanwheiule, when did this site become a forum for EVs? Talk about VET! These companies are reducing debt like crazy and still not paying huge dividends so building cash piles. Where is that reflected in SP?

I suggested that concept about 3 or 4 years ago and just got laughed off the board. I was asked "don't you realize the size and weight of the batteries - they're half the weight of the car"! 'Nuff said. They can make a statement like that and not see the error of their thoughts. :-)) And, regarding the transition to all electric, I have a cul-de-sac about two blocks down ...more

I disagree. New EVs can already charge at 250 kw. if you look at current gas refulling. People will put up with having to fuel  a large SUV with takes 2 x as long as a small car for the same range. At 250 KW you are looking at roughly 2x the time to add range for the same sized car using gas. So its not a big deal.
