Shorts

It looks to me as though there are still 6.61M shares shorted out there. I guess somebody could be shorting it today....but I was surprised that they hadn't all dried up.

They will never dry up. Even as some go belly up new ones will come in to replace them. There is always a diversity of opinion, that is what makes a market . Also shorts may have other reasons , such as offsetting other trades or options positions !! Being short does not necessarily mean that they are negative on Vet , rather they may just think that the market has risen too fast and is now ready ...more

Why are there not more like you Oldnagger! Wise and witty yet knowledgeable. I agree with your views on shorters, and let's be honest, today's drop of over 6% in SP means they will be making money,which is the name of the game. You also do well to remind us not to take our eyes off the long game which it seems a lot of investors these days have trouble doing, is essential. Vet is going up ...more

Today's drop, imho, is merely a combination of profit taking and the stock finally finding, or developing a new support level. It's been on a rip to the upside for a while no so it shouldn't be a large surprise seeing the share step back . Nothing goes up in a straight line.  VET's latest report ---which was blockbuster --- imho, WTI and Brent staying high for the forseeable ...more

Agreed, and Steven Shork just laid out the same narrative on BNN.. this is just a temporary pull back and an opportunity to have the MA's catch up.. some profit taking.. closing of yesterdays gap up.. there's huge profits at even today's dropped level of crude.. those profits will flow through to the shareholders over time.. ;-)
