Also this for all you pickup owners or wannabe's: Ottawa is thinking about a new tax on your truck or SUV. They’re the most popular vehicles in Canada and now the feds are eyeing them for a new tax that would range from $1,000 to $4,000.    ...more

No one who needs a Ford F 150 or other vehicle is going to change it to a smaller car or an EV, This is simply further proof of how out of touch with reality these guys are. BTW I know someone who has 4 young children. which 2 should be told to walk  from now on ??
Comment by Ebankbank on Apr 14, 2022 10:12am
Funny thing is, I own a F-150 and I burn a lot of gas. The thing Governments should be doing instead of trying to tax or give auto company's tax breaks and offer incentives on EVs they should require more palladium in catalytic converters which would reduce millions of pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. That in my opinion is the easiest way to help with ICE vehicles. A little plug with the ...more

OMG dude catalysts do NOTHING for CO2, they are there to break down CO, NOx and unburned hydrocarbons. CO2 is a verry stable and non-reactive gas in the atmosphere. Which is why you can use it to extinguish fires.

Lets be honest with ourselves here, what % of F-150 owners ACTUALLY need and F150? lol

From the look of most males who drive F150s they are testesterone deficient, and it doesn't end there!      Until the EV makers can devise a battery that can be easily removed and replaced, rather like the propane-swap arrangement; where you buy a battery and exchange an empty one for a full one; the charge time is a major hurdle in a big country like ours.

Are you suggesting the powers that be should maybe think things through before they try to implement them? What a novel idea! Why not just build another windmill while we think about that. :-))

How often do you drive more then 100 km a day? Pretty rare for me. And if you start out with 400km of range, how much more would you need to get to your destination.

Which brings up a very important point (pun intended) Just which cars does one need to drive to get back ones drive ??

Ferrari, any model will do ..

Oldnagger, you just need to keep your "Focus".
Comment by Oldnagger on Apr 15, 2022 10:34am
I already tried a Ford Focus, it didn't work at all !!
Comment by Pandora on Apr 15, 2022 2:32pm
Probably the only thing worse than a Ford Focus would be a Ford Focus with an electric motor and a 1000 pound battery. Still remember the days on the golf course with electric carts where a lot of people carried a tow rope as part of essential equipment.

how do u know he did not buy carbon offsets for the trip?
Comment by GregC24 on Apr 14, 2022 10:10am
What message would that send?  It's OK to emit carbon if you have the money to pay for it?  So go ahead rich folks, pollute away if you have the money?  Little guy, too bad for you.    And who is this "he" you speak of buying those offsets?  Like, his own personal dollars?  Or more taxpayer dollars?  That's another great look.  It' ...more

Yes that is the point. Carbon emissions have a cost and negative impact. So the carbon tax is there to ensure the full cost of these emissions is more closely reflected in the fuel price. Same with raw sewage. If there was no sewage tax and system, how would you like it spewing into your street?

Oh, you are a cynical wag Mnztr!

I have a GMC van with a 6 liter V& engine, a Buick with a 3,6 liter V6 and a Nissan with a 2.5 liter straight 4. The Van drinks gasoline but blows the other 2 away. The Nissan sips gas and is the one I don't like driving the most but do drive the most. The Buick is the one I love to drive but gets fuel economy in between the other two. People can drive whatever they want they just have ...more
