We are waiting for the results of the French Presidential  Election (today april 24 in France ) Why ? Europeans won't decide whether or not to turn off Russian gas until the elections are out of the way.  This dog has sharp teeth and has a particular fondness for sinking them into shorts !!

Please explain how Macron winning or losing affects Vermilion? Or on the other hand how the right wing competitor affects it one way or the other.
Comment by Oldnagger on Apr 23, 2022 11:16pm
Apparently, the EU is afraid that putting sanctions on Russian gas would  help Le Pen as she represents a nationalistic view point. That is what I understand. Of course after the election what politicians  say and what they do can be very far apart !!

Good News .. Macron Wins

Yeah, he nailed the nursing home and graveyard vote. Lost the other demographics convincingly. No wonder there's unrest.

The median age in France is 42.3 . The fertility rate is 1.85 and immigration is very low (36000 versus 65 million )  Therefore the median age is unlikely to change very much over the next decade and if anything it will probably go up.  Grey power is where its at Baby !!

How does Canada compare to that?
Comment by Oldnagger on Apr 28, 2022 10:55pm
For Canada the numbers are 41 1.53 % and 242000 out of 37 million. I know you guys are going to ask me for every country , so I am providing the link LOl https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/population-by-country/

Quite the chart. I did notice that Canada is number 39 (37 million) out of 235 for population but we're number 4 for the number of annual migrants (242,000), only behind U.S., Germany, Turkey and the U.K. I see they also say we are 81% "urban" population. (I'm assuming the migrant figure is annual but it really doesn't say that.) We do have lots of space but I'm not sure ...more

The net migration is on an annual basis. The figures are part of our ethos. We need the immigration to counter balance our lower fertility rates ( also because they invariably vote Liberal ). Anyway I for one very much welcome the diversity , there is so much they can teach us about the world other than our cozy confines . I recommend that everyone spend time on the full site as it contains ...more

With activists like Elliot pressuring Suncor, all these c-suite folks better take note.. and as Nuttal just said on BNN.. "its time to pay the shareholders".. if they ignore us it could be to their own demise.. and rightfully so IMHO..  With that said.. cmon B.O.D.. cough up some of that FCF.. toot sweet..!

To be a contrarian, It is becoming increasingly obvious that all the major oil companies are rushing to the exit doors. In a world that will most likely remain dependant on hydrocarbons for a long time, that fact will leave open a huge space that nimble juniors can profit from. So , my hope is that VET will continue to focus on growth. That is where the real money is !! https://oilprice.com ...more

They will be focusing on growth. Hence. debt paydown. Once that's done, the sky is the limit for VET to aquire smaller companies that show a lot growth going forward. Or, the other side of the coin.....VET becomes aquired in time???

As for the next step, I am hoping for a huge acqusition in Europe of non-core NG asset from one of the majors. Ideally including a big discount and the majority of the cost coming from the FCF over the next 1-3 years.  Cheers!
