Dividend won't matter

Even if they don't raise the dividend to the level that some here would like to see, the main thing is not what they do with the money it's how much there is. If, as I suspect the earning are out of this world, thenn that alone will give a bump. They are going to be cautious about being overgenerous in the dividend department as they have been there before and then had to cut it; a fatal move for any company. .Laissez le bon tempts rouler!

Special divvies are a good option. I would not want them to committ  to a large divvy increase as we know prices are volatile

As long as the NCIB is the preferred method of returning capital to shareholders I don't expect share price increases to last for long. This is evident in many stocks regardless of their performance. I don't have a problem with this as they should buy back as cheaply as possible it's just the reality. Also why would company pay much of a dividend until share repurchases are complete?

Continue with NCIB.  Bump the base divident to 2% yield.  Add in Special dividends if O&G prices remain elevated and FCF is solid.

The latter part of your comment should be given down the road. Sometime in 2023 would be ideal. Why throw all cards on the table at once? Slow and steady wins the race. Commodity prices will remain firm for quite some time imho. Above $80

My call is the divi will be doubled for Q3.. although it should be tripled to be competitive.. be nice to see crude continue upwards throughout the day tomorrow with good results tabled afterhours.. ;-)

That's why, for me, paying down the debt is main priority. Once that is done and FCF is through the roof without worries about debt. The question then is, what CANT they do?  So, I personally don't have my bar set too high for tomorrow. The main thing I'll be looking at is how far down the debt was paid.  At the end of the day its the B.O.D that make the decisions so, lets ...more

If you have too much cash you get taken out. They need to keep some debt and pay out the cash, if not they get taken out by someone like CNQ aand they all get fired.

I doubt the dividend will double but can it go back to a monthly dividend.
Comment by Healthyscratch on Aug 11, 2022 2:14pm
I think of people would like that. A raise for sure but return to a monthly payout. Alot of people look for monthly dividend paying stocks so im hoping they return to that.
Comment by Moemoney42 on Aug 11, 2022 2:58pm
What's the point of going back to monthly if its not doubled.. 2 cents/month is the same as 6 cents per quarter.. hardly what I'd call "shareholder" friendly or market friendly for that matter.. :-/
Comment by McRambus on Aug 11, 2022 4:21pm
It doesn't matter, we get an additional 2 cents/quarter increase, just announced. No special, nothing. Future is share buybacks. Fukkk these guys. I am out tomorrow.
Comment by mnztr on Aug 11, 2022 4:25pm
can you read/ they said divvies are prime. but they will not exceed 105 of FFO, which gives them scope to increase divvies 500% to .40/quarter.
Comment by mnztr on Aug 11, 2022 4:26pm
I meant to type 10% of FFO.
Comment by Moemoney42 on Aug 11, 2022 4:42pm
Agreed I was hoping for better divi payouts as the 10% they stated should have produced a divi of approx 27 cents/quarter using this last quarters FFO.. although I'm happy with the increase, I don't like the dangling carrot always.. if you're going to state 10% then do it..! Whats with the waiting..??
