I own VET calls, 17 MAR 2023, strike price of $23. Only shareholders get any dividends.  For an call option holder to receive any dividend declared you would have to excercise your call option and buy the shares prior to the ex-dividend date.  This is one of the main reasons call options are exercised early if there is a sizeable dvidend due.

I cannot believe this would be the case for options. It may change the value of the option perhaps but not terms of contract. Owning an option only gives you the right to acquire or sell a share at a certain price at a certain time in the future. Only actual shareholders of record on ex dividend day are eligible to receive the dividend, special or otherwise as far as i know.

Any chance you can back that statement up with a link.. or is it just your wish list..?

Just a prediction.  Base dividend is too low and I think they will reward shareholders with a special dividend soon.

Sounds about right. They will have to do something with all that cash. I think we'll see SP touch down on $50 by end of September.
