Time for an adult conversation

Joe Biden used the SPR and other manipulations to drive oil pricing way below where it should have been . In doing so he has also caused great harm to Canadian WCS pricing. Where has our own national idiot been during all this ? Will the world ever return again to international co-operation ? Will Canada ever achieve interprovincial co-operation ? All of this political stupidity has done absolutely nothing to reduce Global CO2 production. In fact it has done the opposite and has spread disunity , inflation and misery ! Well done useless clowns !!

Extremely adult.  I fail to see much of a difference between this and the last 6 or so. VET fundimentals do not care who is running this country or that country. It won't and can't be held down as long as it achieves it debt targets.  Keep your eye on the prize. GLTA

So far many of the companies reporting are posting a good quarter for Q3.. earnings matter.. and so will the FCF with many oil companies.. you can't argue with profits..!

"Joe Biden used the SPR and other manipulations to drive oil pricing way below where it should have been " And yet Biden wants to label OPEC+ action as unfair manipulation of the crude price.. how ironic and hypocritical.. :-/
Comment by Oldnagger on Oct 13, 2022 11:14am
It is my guess that Biden is now slowing the exports. That may be what has caused the sudden increase in WCS spreads. Will find out maybe this PM yet EIA and API data are for the week ending October 7 so we do not yet know for certain what he is up to !!

I'd venture fall maintenance at the refineries is a big part of the spread issue
Comment by Pandora on Oct 13, 2022 1:04pm
Word last night on the B.C. news is that fall maintenance at the Cherry Point refinery in Ferndale, Washington is complete and we can expect about a 20 cents per litre drop in gas prices today. Imagine -- it might even get below $2/litre again -- at least for a short time.
Comment by stockmarket1 on Oct 13, 2022 10:11pm
It certainly did drop. In fact, a drop of 40 cents from other day. $1.93 as I drove home from work. It was $2.34 I believe on Tuesday.
Comment by Oldnagger on Oct 13, 2022 2:10pm
Agreed, but crude exports were also down . Yet due to the volatility it is hard to read too much into it https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=wcrexus2&f=w

expect nothing from Justin! If he does no harm, we are lucky! I would like to understand how the Canadian voter spoke and said we like minority government and Justin and his pal decided they prefer a fixed majority....how is that democratic?? sorry no more politics today
Comment by Quintessential1 on Oct 14, 2022 10:06am
Well the compromises that the liberals had to make to the ndp who were also voted in make the decision making the will of the people.  At least the majority of the people at the time. Voters that are aware of this type of compromise may not toss their vote into the ndp box thinking it is better than voting for either of the other parties next time. Coalition governments are nothing new. If ...more

Why do you think the liverals are bringing in more revenue than expected, the windfall federal taxes they are charging every oil and gas firm in regular tax revenue, not to mention all the employees, construction companies, supply companies, everything to do with the oil and gas industry is bringing in huge amounts of extra revenue. Don't shoot the horse that is carrying you, embrace it and ...more

You're joking right?  You think glueing themselves to the FRAMES of art (not destryoing anything) is almost as bad as throwing acid if young girls faces and shooting them for going out with their heads uncoverd? " Almost as bad as the Taliban." Kind of a kneejerk reaction dude. The Liberal are bringing in tax revenue on all industries, not just O&G. You make more you pay ...more

Excellent news source.  Is your Magic 8 Ball broken?   Perhaps you could consult with your OUIJA board instead.   ;-)

There's one! Can we go for two?
Comment by Carlo2021 on Oct 15, 2022 7:29am
there is a significant difference between a minority government and a post  deal to make that minority a majority! certainly no apologies needed on your part, just that I think Canadians as a whole would be better off without Justin and his anti energy sector policies. How Albertans stay in Confederation is beyond me. (I'm from Ontario). How Canadians don't revolt against policies ...more
Comment by Quintessential1 on Oct 15, 2022 8:45am
Actually there isn't.  All policies moving forward are voted on and if the NDP do not like what the Liberals are doing they can vote that policy down and trigger a non-confidence vote. The deal they made was that certain policies have already been agreed to in advance so that both parties know that a non-confidence vote will not be triggered and the NDP is consulted on policy making in ...more

One thing we can be certain about the NDP aren't going to vote against anything that would bring the Liberals down. They've never had so much power! We are stuck with overspending and anti free market taxes for a long while yet. Let's hope we have a Country left when the term is finally up.....
Comment by Quintessential1 on Oct 15, 2022 9:44am
Well that is pretty melodramatic.  Of course there will be  a country left when and if their term is up. I agree the NDP are not going to anything to lose their influence withiin the government.  It also means that PP is not just running against the Libs.  He is running against the Libs and the NDP and this whole scenario could play out for another 4 years after  the 3 ...more

Never have had a problem paying taxes and I far prefer a consumption tax vs income..... What bothers me is special taxes because an industry is making too much money. Banks so far and it sure seems more likely energy companies are next in line. I'm glad you think Alberta, BC and Ontario are going to keep putting up with this stupidity. Anyway hopefully we can find a level that allows o&g ...more

Yeah I don't agree with windfall taxes either.  Banks were an easy target.  Covid losses never materialized for them although their bottom line is taking a hit now...maybe. I never said anyone anywhere was going to put up with anything.  I just don't see PP being the galvanizing force that attractes center left voters.  In fact I think he will alienate the center right ...more

Quint, thank you for your comments. You're correct that my not likeling the Justin Jagmeet partnership is my issue. It is! We do agree that VET is doing well. Waiting for Q3 results!
