Windfall taxes

As I listen to some posters drone on about windfall taxes,A question arises, Do posters fail to make the connection between the imposition of these taxes and the political mindset that exists at the present ??
Nowhere is that same mindset more prevalent than in Canada at present.
Amongst many examples , one that is becoming increasingly persistent is Liberal party censorship and suppression of dissenting opinions. This is now happening on Stockhouse and no one is more aware of that than yours truly. One particular poster here will argue that he has the right to censor me. He does not (nor to censor anyone else for that matter). To cede that right to him is to cede our fundamental values.
It is only those values that elevate mankind above the baseness of the present day autocrats.
I no longer have any ilusions, this post will undoubtedly be taken down as being off topic
You be the judge !!

We cringe at other countries like China and Russia and North Korea and yet our present government is slowly and stealithly getting there.  Bring in 500,000 immigrants per year and hand them massive cheques when they arrive and tell them " dont forget to vote for the government that helped you out "   They get just enough votes to stay in power.  Smart conniving sociopaths  ...more

Except that Canada is not imposing a windfall tax and the rest of the world is or is talking about one.  So why bring up Canada when they are not?  Got an axe to grind?  Wrong place! If you have been censored it is by stockhouse themselves.  It seems they don't care for windbags droning on about offtopic political rants anymore  than I do, Playing by the rules is ...more

If you guys trust Trudeau you need a history lesson . Remember the NEP (National Energy Program ) ? Just like the war measures act that was another creation of his father . Justin watch me !! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Energy_Program Finally, the War Measures Act was invoked in October 1970 to deal with the domestic FLQ-inspired crisis. It was replaced on 1 December 1970 by the ...more

LOL.  Trust me if Socks thought he could get away with windfall taxes on Alberta and Saskatchewan O&G he would do it.  That would cross a major red line so he knows not to go there . You can only push someone so far until they snap. They're already talking about ignoring Ottawa on a lot of it's industry destroying policies.  This would cause the birth of the new country ...more

PMSL.  Yeah, he seems really worried about the wrath of Western Canada. Me: "The only government in the world not talking about imposing windfall taxes." Response:  "They would if they could".   and my favourite:  " But his Dad"  LOL Turns out I was wrong.  The article posted they are talking about them. About not needing ...more

If you are trying to argue that Trudeau is good for the Canadian Petroleum industry, then what are you so afraid of that you need to suppress any form of criticism of his policies ?? Last time I looked ,VET did not exist in a vacuum . The very existance of the Windfall taxes is proof of that . So while you fuss about the mechanics (which are unknowable at this time other than what has been ...more

It wasn't Trudeau that dropped the bottom out of the global oil price.  He nor any other PM has that kind of global influence so I am not sure why you are blaming him. Windfall taxes may curb investment in jurisdictions that impose them.  Canada is not imposing them.   That would encourage investment here ...no? I am not supressing anything.  I have no control here ...more

There are so many examples of policy initiated by Trudeau which run counter to the economic well being of the Canadian Petroleum industry , that I could spend all evening enumerating them (and for which I would be surely banned ) If you are trying to fool yourself, it seems to be working, as to the rest of us on stockhouse , not so much !!

You like to lump yourself in the majority of stockhouse members just like you like to lump yourself into the majority of Candian voters. I can assure you at least one of those is not true as I know who is making the policy here in Canada. I doubt you would be banned I think it is an empty threat held in reserve for bullying and defamation. Your post would probably be removed as I have had a few ...more

I have had numerous posts removed by stockhouse , for the simple reason that they were critical of Liberal government policy I was even banned for one for which I was told it was irrelevant because it concerned covid . It did not.It was about the consequences of the  autocratic behaviour of current leaders including Biden and Trudeau. the idiot censors on this board did not even bother to ...more

Yet oil production is up 25% tmx was nationalized bay du nord was approved and lng canada is on its way. The govt does not just focus on oil. Its about 5% of gdp. The govt has to make policy for all of canada not just ab.
