Fed Wednesday and the aftermath

The Feb announcements always seem to come with an aftermath of strange machinations, affecting prices of commodities such as oil and gold.

This morning, pre-market, the price of oil was driven down by over three percent and it is now drifting higher, then lower, in the proverbial gutter.

Is it fear, a conspiracy, a manipulation, a reasonable decrease in the face of a Fed-planned recession?

I don't know. I see some fear in the market.  I also see some opportunities created to buy stocks that weak hands have to dump. Was that fear and opportunity created by manipulators? Who knows.

I think that these extraordinary moves will probably continue till next Tuesday and then we might see some rational levels based on market fundamentals.

In the meantime, what do I do with my fears?

Depends what you fear. If it is FOMO then it's not so much fear as repressed greed. If you fear that you will not be able to put a roof over your head or food on the table, then you were unwise to put your money where it was at risk, and should have gone into CDs. Figure out how much money you need from your investments to augment whatever other income you have (salary or pensions), divide it ...more
