This photo makes it easier to get a feel of the actual site (with vegetation starting) and the stacked HLP

Great photo Husky, and that was taken in the early stages of phase 1.   The stack was much larger during the slide well above the tree line in the middle left potion of the HLF photo. Ideally the retention berm should have been much higher to create a deep dish and end wall in the valley construction.  As long as astructural retention wall was built at a similiar height as the ...more

Exactly Husky!  The steep slope along the SW lower corner of the pad is ridicuous, and that's before any ore is even stacked on it.    What engineer (or aparently multiple engineers) in their right mind believed it was OK to stack cyanide solution bearing ore on that steep of a slope and just above the toe end of the HLP and spillway that's designed to catch and redirect ...more

HoneyBadger, I completely agree.  However, the fact that VG essentially rolled over suggests to me that they must have been doing something that was not prescribed by the engineers.  This is suggested in the BC lawsuit where they claim that the cause of the slide was due to winter activity that was not supposed to occur.  If VG did this, and it was not approved by the engineers ...more

rack, For sure I agree 100%! A full investigation needs to be undertaken on this entire mess.  From YGR, EMR, FN, engineers, Inspectors. VG included. Even Mt Polly had an investigation, Eagle gets receivership and now sounds like a fast track to reopening? What is that? past accusations have ranged from: D11's playing bumper cars, WCB abuse,  illegal Drugs, sexual harrasement to ...more
