Tuna 1 Well Gas Discovery in Black Sea

A very deep well 2 km beneath the surface .
Tuna1 has been declared a game changer for Turkey.

Its potential gas In place is about the same Thrace Deeps.

It costs lots more to drill that well than in the Deeps and there remains uncertainty about Tuna to produce at breast plate.

So, why wouldn't TPAO take a chance..

TPAO doesn't like 90% formation water in Devepinar well stream

There was some water in a few of the zones when they tested .. Just like there is in many other deep basin plays. There was also a lot of condensate that slowed the natural gas flow rates. This is why VLE is using the $US100,000,000 of geological, geophysical and well data provided by Statoil for free to identify and target the horizon that was dry, deeper in the formation.   Now about the ...more

Sorry Pat, no condensate in Devepinar, just water prone. They have selected Hanoglu to avoid condensate, dry gas in the deep is a proven fact. You must study the reports amigo!

Pat, they learned from Yamalik and shallow part of Inanli that condensate is impeding flow. Model is to go deep and bet on dry gas. Deep Inanli told them to stay deep in Devepinar. Planning to go even deeper in Hanoglu.

Of course I have looked at the reports, Water in some areas, condensate and gas in others and dry gas in others yet .. The thing is, the basin is HUGE and with that in and of itself comes still agreat potential. The Statoil science project on the field as well as the extensive 3D over almost the entire field will become more and more useful as more wells are drilled. The challenge (As I see it ...more

Thank you. Those were my financial probits as well. We all know who that poor soul now posting as Hannamuk is. He must have lost a ton  .

LOL nosepack, you claimed Hanoglu was ongoing. Status in well now?
Comment by DocPat on Dec 20, 2021 2:29pm
Simple, because they import over 90% of their natural gas domestic demand. If the Black Sea discovery is as big as Thrace Deeps potential reservers, it could deliver something like 10% of Turkey's domestic demand leaving them still over the barrel with Russia to the tune of an 80%. They 'took a chance" in the Black Sea and won .. If anything it would seem that this would embolden ...more
