India Goes for Canadian Crude
Reliance Industries, India’s largest refiner, bought a VLCC cargo of Canadian crude from Shell (LON:SHEL) for July delivery, marking the first ever purchase of TMX volumes by an Indian buyer, with reports suggesting the price was set at a $6 per barrel discount to ICE Brent.

I can't find the article now, but they said they will use the aframax size ships to do a ship-to-ship transfer to the VLCC.

You're right Jleer.. they plan to use smaller vessels to carry the crude to the VLCC's and transfer the cargo..

They can't bring big aircraft carriers into Vancouver Harbour because the superstructure is too high to clear the Lions Gate Bridge. And thats around two hundred feet and even some of the really big cruise ships have to time their comings and goings with low tide to clear the bridge.

They did it in 1992. Eco-warriers were all in arms about a nuclear powered aircraft carrier, equipped with nuclear weapons, anchored in the main harbour across from Canada Place. https://www.facebook.com/oldvancouver/posts/a-us-aircraft-carrier-passing-under-lions-gate-bridge-in-1992/444812309446914/

VLCC stands for Very Large Crude Carrier. I have listened to the back and forth between the daisy sniffers and the people that actually know what they're talking about for years now and NO.....there will never be VLCCs in Vancouver Harbour. Smaller tankers will be used escorted by tugs in and out.
