Yes, imagine placing someone in a CEO position that in a few years increases the number of staff by 30% and raises their salaries into the millions. Alberta is under attack by NGOs and the federal government. What do you propose they do instead? Rather than invest in one of the best economies in Canada, should they send more investment to Ontario, Quebec, BC or off shore? When provinces and ...more

it was a massive push by Federal Gov to block pensions from investing into oil and gas, and redirect all the pensioners money into those frauds called "renewable energy".  Now those wind turbines are idiotic solar panels are failing.  God knows what Justine did to CPP, it is for sure, they moved the money from oil and gas to their frauds.

CPP can invest in whatever they want, which is the way it should be. All pension plans should base their decisions only on hightest return at a specific and acceptabel risk level. C-231 was the Liberal attempt to change this and it didn't pass. One of the reasons QPP has higher contribution levels than the CPP is it is directed to invest in Quebec companies which hurt its returns. I don't ...more

There is a way around C-231. They don't needet, all Libros need to do is influence, one way or another, the whole board and executives into accepting their woke agendas and thats it, which is the case wih all major corporations nowadays. I would assume that is the case with AIMco, and Alberta gov is cleaining it up now and fixing the problem

Deranja is again broadcasting his delusions!!! CPP direct investments in ALBERTA oil and gas are  SIX BILLION DOLLARS!!! https://www.shiftaction.ca/news/2023/12/7/cppib-opens-cop28-by-celebrating-oil-and-gas-investments
Comment by baranja on Nov 08, 2024 10:52am
That's a market cap of WCP!!  That is less then 1% of of CPP.
Comment by packerdriver on Nov 08, 2024 12:04pm
Math is not Deranja's strong suit! CPP oil and gas assets in little old Alberta is indeed 1% of total assets. AB is 15% of Canadian GDP. Canada is 2% of world GDP. If CPP followed its mandate of prudently investing WORLDWIDE....CPP's Alberta assets would be 0.3% ot the total. CPP is THREE times overinvested in Alberta as it is!!!

Do you remember why Siddal was hired??? "In 2020, AIMCo lost a stunning $2.1 billion on a volatility investing strategy. The CEO at the time of the losses, Kevin Uebelein, left the pension manager in the summer of 2021 and Siddall was brought on board." The new guy was hired to remake AIMCO into a more serious pension manager like OMERS, Teachers and the CPP. Now 3 years later the crazy ...more
