Credit Truedeau for the Trans Mountain expansion... credit where credit is due..  Credit Feds, Natives and Asian sovereign wealth for the LNG inveswtments for Asia.  UCP nowhere to be found on these market diversification initiatives.

Midwest refineries rely 100% on its feedstock from western Canada. There are no pipelines left moving oil from the Gulf of Mexico north. The last, Capline was reversed more than 2 years ago. Tariffs is a tax paid by importers and they will have no choice but pay and pass the cost to local consumers. Gulf refineries have a choice from alternative suppliers such as the friends in Venezuela or OPEC ...more

It's not Trump I'm worried about. Instead I'm worried on the damage Trudeau will impose on oil exports. I would not be surprised that if Trump wages war on Ontario and Quebec manufacturing by levying tarrifs, Trudeau will impose taxes, restrict exports or impose 'extra safety measures' on transport of western energy. I prefer to credit him for Northern Gateway, Energy East, Repsol's St John LNG plant, and the Canadian LNG business case.

Also Eagle Spirit pipeline in addition to northern gateway. It was backed by a native businessman who was confident that he will get local support but bill C-48 killed it. Alberta NDP Premier supported that bill provided that TMX will be spared and she begged that it should be purchased and built. Having said that, no professional saboteur would be able to do a better job than Trudeau and Steven ...more
