Looks like when the Dow drops, VXX goes up.Are we due for a major correction sooner or later?Will watch closely that's for sure.

Hey Dsurfer,The VXX is an ETF that tracks the VIX. The VIX is an index that shows the volatility in the S&P 500. Generally speaking there is a strong negative correlation between volatility and the market. Since markets spend 80% of the time going up and 20% going down and we know they crash hard I feel that the best way to play the VIX is to only buy when volatility is low ...more

He is correct  - buy  when the vix is low  - sell high.  You buy the VIX prior to market instability.   i entered a good position on Friday in hopes that this week would be very volatile due to the debt ceiling issues.
