Solar wasn't the big problem in Texas. Traditional oil wells froze as did the refineries. And renewable energy only makes up less than 25% of the power supply in Texas. So there's lots of blame to go around.

When the wind and solar failed, it left a shortage of power ~20 -25 %. This meant a rotating "brown-out" trying to service everyone on a rotational basis. During the "brown-outs" (Ie: no electricity) the Natural Gas Plants had no electricity to funcion and hence froze in. It may be a little simplistic but it is close to the basic facts to us commoners. mugs

The failure in Texas was across the board, fossil and renewable as none of the infrastructure was winterized (i.e., not just renewable or renewables was more to blame, etc....)
