What's holding Wcp back?

We don't have a lot of Torc lately compared to Cog and Meg. I hold all three with Whitecap being my largest weighting . I like what Grant and his team has done and like the dividend but what happened to the big moves we used to get with this one.

I reluctantly have to agree that WCP is having a problem to hold any measurable early gains.  I can't understand that with the momentum and all the positives WCP has going for it, it can't seem to get any real traction. The stock starts trading strong but by mid morning it loses half of those gains and tends to just flop around for the rest of the day.  WCP is my largest holding ...more

They took 19 million shares in a block trade.  To me that means those shares were being held for a long time by someone and they didn't hit the market but they hadn't affected the market either because they were held for a long time.  They then issued or gave 15 million shares when they bought those latest 3 aquisitions.      I can't help but think they are ...more

Hi Folks, I'm a Newbie on this forum. Haven't posted before so my apologies in advance if I screw up my first post or two.  Today I unloaded 40k + WCP Shares. I am not a short seller and I really wanted to hold this stock long and strong. Here's why I dumped. March 8/21 WCP HIT $6.82. Today they closed at $7.72.  A gain of 13% in 10 months. For the risk, just not worth it ...more

Good for you, personally I think that you made a big mistake. You sold, you made your point on why you sold so move on. This stock will be over $8.00 before their year end earnings are reported in late February. It's not just WCP that's been under achieving lately, take a look at the rest of the Canadian oil patch stocks. The point is that as long as oil is trading above $65.00 per barrel ...more

Take a look at other O&G stocks  Ok, let's do that.   1 year returns: NVA - 663% BTE - 454% TVE - 221% MEG - 181% CPG - 142% WCP - 58% Like I said a year ago on here and again in March when the price got away from fundamentals: This company has too many shares and is overvalued relative to peers.  That's not the same as saying it's overvalued compared to ...more

riski, you broke it down a lot better and explained it a lot better than me. You saw and have seen exactly what I was looking at. I also had an incredible run up to last March. + 446% from then until yesterday. 5 1/2 bagger. From last March until yesterday only 13% and it was only to 9% the day before on the TSX. Now I wont eat any crow until WCP hits $8.38  Yesterday after selling WCP i ...more

HI barneyj44,  Sorry for taking a bit for a reply. The site got a little wonky on me.Would'nt let me back in. I'm just down the road from you. Mill Bay, Cobble Hill area. I've just been a lurker and an observer on the forum for quite some time. Years acctually.. I ussually don't partake in these as sometimes they get a little to snippy. Thanks JSSAYN. Grant just purchased another 15000 shares today , he's been one of the few Ceo's that continues to buy shares on the open market

Cobble Hill, great area, were blessed to be able to live on Vancouver Island. Sorry about the comment earlier, these last few years being long on Oil and Gas has made me edge.

No kidding.  Tell me don't you wonder when the bottom will fall out.  I mean it's so hard the last few years.  So I get it.    In fact if I didn't double down at the bottom.  I would still be bleeding badly.    Doubling down near the bottom seemed logical way back when.   But I think I lost a couple of years of my life.       ...more

I never think making money is a bad thing !  The fact you held on to 10 thousand shares makes me think your calculated and this shows some common sense.    I know for me I have a number I sell at even though I am a longer term holder.   I was told to never look back once you make a profit.   Hard to do. Especially with still holding 10 thousand shares.     ...more

Hi Craig, Thank you for the kind words and your observations. I ve acctually held on to 10's with an S. 10's of thousands of shares. I've still got major skin in the WCP game. In all honesty, I am a major advocate for others. Always have been and spent my life battling the financial institutions on behalf of others. In saying that, much of my reason for posting today is to get a ...more

Let me look at it a bit differently: In March 2020 (twenty-two months ago) the shares were trading at $0.78 - now less than two years later they trade at $7.70 that is almost 1000% gain (not including the dividend ...more

Thanks pierrelebel, Wish I would have been fortunate enough to buy at $0.78, I'm sure many others wish they could have too. Yes, that would have been quite good enough for me. Unfortunately that is not the case for many. BTW, i have a little calculator tip for you. Plug $.78 into your calculator + 890%. Gee, it equals $7.72. Gee, i think that is where WCP closed today. Not quite 1,000 ...more
