Dividend?

Just curious, if WCP intends to increase the dividend, or give a one time dividend cheque, would that be announced before the financials or  the day of?

If they up the dividend i would expect the share price to go up. If they announce more buybacks my guess is we would go lower especially in this market where we can't seem to move higher on green days and oil trading at $90 plus.

No argument there. Just when this stock makes a move to go up it seems it only holds for a few days then slowly drops, Im expecting the same thing if they do increase the dividend.  Its been frustating to say the least.  However, after having said that, the ususal suspects I watch are doing the same thing.  I guess it may take oil settlingin at between $96 -$100.  I do expect a ...more

NCIB may not get the SP pop you are looking for, but it isn't going to cause the SP to go lower. I would suggest that as long as the stock is undervalued NCIB would provide a better shareholder benefit than a dividend. It just may take a longer time to be reflected in the SP. Best is a combination of NCIB, dividend increases, contiued debt paydowns. My opinion anyway.

No offence intended, but you both left out the stated objective of continued strategic acquisitions. Those will cost money and or shares.  I see WCP sp going up after Q1/22 for at least 2 reasons, the increase in bpd production that has just started in Q4/21, and obviously the surprise bump in WTI prices. A year ago WTI was @ $65.00 WCP management is conservative, prudent, but the last NR ...more

You're right Dave, I expect Whitecap to continute to do strategic/tuck-in aquisitions. I think Grant and team are some of the best managers in the industry. Grant continues to aquire shares - I think he bought 35k last month - and that adds to the story. I own several O&G stocks and while I don't expect to get the biggest jumps out of WCP I believe it will be my best long term purchase ...more

For the SP to go up, all other things being equal, would be to increase the dividend above the average of other similar players - my opinion.
