Thud!

Street isn't big on the financials, opened up but quickly dropped below yesterday's close. Guess they were looking for something specific on shareholder return, dividend or buyback wise.

Great quarterly report for sure ,but timing not good. Coming just after Cenovus reports and triples dividend, I think that most investors were expecting a nice dividend increase, but we didn't get it! Maybe next quarter! Rico

Yeah, maybe next quarter, cause they aren't making enough money right now. Ha Ha Ha

The dividend was increased 2 weeks ago . They usually announce dividend increases when they declare the dividend for the next month . Why put all the good news in one release .

Guess everyone is moving over to Suncor!!!
Comment by JohnnyDoe on Apr 28, 2022 10:29am
Suncor seems to be popping due to an activist investor

CEOs must take note.  The market fully expects to see companies returning cold hard cash to investors. Buying back shares and paying down debt are noble good causes... however investors want cash that they can themselves decide where/when to redeploy.

Hey WCP, start saying FREE CASH FLOW! That's what we want to hear. Not funds flow, discretionary, blah,blah,blah...

This language, along with a company's hedging program, should be standardized across the industry. It's hard to hunt and peck through presentations and financial reports for this kind of information. Whitecap make their hedging program easy to see.

If Fagerheim would direct money towards shareholders instead of drilling companies the stock would soar like CVE. Growth of over 10% a year going forward is not shareholder friendly.

131,000 boe/d They have to grow....

On the topic of CVE, they have debt of over 10 billion, billion shares, P/E ratio of almost 90,thats right, 90 x earnings and Whitecap trades at an unfair, undervalued multiple of 3.7 x earnings, why? Who controls this? Suncor trades at 16.5 x earnings. This is the big question for Whitecaps management, who sets this price?

Maybe you should check your math, Grant is already returning cash to shareholders at approximately twice the rate of Cenovus based on dividend and buybacks
