JamesT exactly what I was thinking, I sold off most of my position today and I still think I was right to do so contrary to some of the posters out there.  I think the share price might collapse once divi time is past.

Earnings mean nothing in oil and gas companies due to swings in hedging gains or losses and depletion, depreciation. It's all about cash flow. They spent 28% of cash flow on dividends and around 120% of cash flow on dividends plus capex. These numbers are good because in qtr 2 they will underspend due to breakup. Results look great overall.

They increase yearly productiion that will be an improvement in CF, and they spent a lot less capex than budgeted. They paid their dividend, and pretty well managed a quarter with low gas prices. 89 dollar oil, 34 dollar NGL's, and 2.60 gas. In 2023 gas was almost 1 dollar higher a MCF, oil was almost 3 dollars higher and ngls was almost 13 dollar higher.  Fantastic quarter with ...more

They lost $92 million on commodities contracts compared to a 2023 Q1gain of $41 million. Most of it is mark-to-market so changes in the value of current futures contracts. Basically, hedging is biting them in the butt. There is another $40 million loss on other commodity contracts, I'm not clear on exactly what yet, and a $75 million loss on asset dispositions.  Disappointing but the ...more
