OK DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH EXPLAIN THIS..IM NO EXPERT BUT WHY DOES PRICE GO UP WHEN VOLUME IS LIKE ONLY 200000 BUT YET 3.3 MILLION OR MORE IT DOES NOT..FOR EVERY SELLER THERE IS A BUYER AND IF ITS WESTERN THEN LESS SHARES..

I don't know.  I just know that this stock is cyclical. It's essentially debt free insiders are buying. Lumber futures are over 600 dollars. Interest rates will go down at some point.  What else do you need to pull the trigger?

While I do think the company is cheap, I wouldn't go so far as to say "essentially debt free" when there is $80M of debt on the books per the annual report.

What kind of theory is that.  In takeover situations debt would be tooken into consideration in the buyout price.  A compasny is not going to build up debt for the hell of it.  Canfor or westfraser could buy this company out easily if they thought it was trading too cheap, they are both multi billion dollar companies and western debt would be nothing for them.  I do think there ...more

I suspect West Fraser or Canfor would have no interest in acquring WEF.  Maybe if it was trading at half of what it is now.  WEF only has net debt of $60mm, however, the real liability in the view of an acquirer would be its union, issues with environmentalists, and Vancouver Island's onerous regulations.  That's always been the knock on WEF.

Could be due for a bounce though.  Short interest is the lowest its been in the last 2 years.....

Canfor, West Fraser and Interfor are all unionized correct.  The thing I like about western forrest products they don't have logging operations in the interior, kootneys, and okanogan, wich lose so much timber supply due to wildfires.  I don't on any forrest companies now but am watching.
