WELL's short position increased in a big way:

Nov 15th 3,437,845
Nov 30th 6,184,869
Net Change = 2,747,024

that is one of the biggest swings I have seen since following this stock - the shorts really piled in here.

there is nothing company-specific behind the recent share price drop. just really terrible market sentiment and this shorting. this probably cleaned out a huge swath of scared retail traders, which likely didn't help things.

fundamentally, I don't see much if any downside from here on in (barring any bad PR) given the strong cashflow of WELL. there is real financial performance underpinning this stock now, unlike many US telehealth names which aren't cashflow positive or turning a profit.

I feel better after seeing this, knowing some of these short positions will need to be closed. any good PR could also set off a quick buyback.

This massive of an almost doubling of the short position in 2 weeks gives credence to my belief that the price slide was not normal tradi g but an orchestrated algorithm bid attack by nefarious hedge funds up to something. Maybe they work for an entity that will make a bully buyout offer at bargain prices or just plain profiting when they cover and go long in their subsequent run up. I have seen ...more

thanks for reaffirming my investment thesis here. i work in the industry and have seen these kinds of shake outs on small/mid cap stocks often. the company's financial position and ability to make recurring sales revenues is very sound. had this drop been precipitated by bad news, I would be worried, but the market just doesn't realize that WELL is NOT a pure play telehealth company. ...more

I saw Jim Cramer speaking yesterday (not my usual go-to authority), who also has experience in the industry, complaining about some consistent game playing by the Hedge funds at market open,  particularly with tech stocks.   I didn't quite follow the nature of the game playing, but the suggestion was that it set the tone for the balance of the day, and resulted in downward momentum ...more
