March 31st Financials

Seeing as this company went from a 30 million to 500+ million dollar company in less than 3 years, with more than 400 million of that coming in the last year, It's much more difficult to gather the numbers and release the reports they need on time, with this level of growth.

I'm not surprised they are waiting until the last minute to make sure everything has been checked over at least 2-3 times to make sure it's correct.
Comment by BudFoxx2020 on Mar 24, 2022 10:48am
They did not grow the company from $30 million to $500 million.  They diluted and bought it.  It's all cosmetics.  Like I said there are just so many clueless pumpers on these boards.   They were so excited to release preliminary earnings in January, even a preview of earnings for Jan of 2022.  Lol all of a sudden they can't release earnings till the absolute ...more

WELL went from a revenue of 32million in 2019 to 500+million in 2022. Whether you look at it as bought revenue or diluted, it's still all revenue that they need to report on which I'm sure is what is taking so long. Anyone who thought this company wouldn't dilute shareholders as a growth stock is pretty clueless on how companies who do not yet make a profit work in terms of growth ...more

If they bought these great profitable businesses (with other people's money, debt, and dilution) then why aren't they already profitable?  I mean I thought they bought profitable companies at screaming good deals?
Comment by monty613 on Mar 24, 2022 2:03pm
they are profitable when you exclude the one-time acquisition expenses and the non-cash depreciation/amortization.  have you read the financials?
Comment by bandit69 on Mar 24, 2022 2:09pm
Yes.   Sept 31 2021 Loss $31602000 Accumulated deficit $55807000 Never been a profit.  and again, as the smarter than you and I Warren Buffet says, depreciation and amort are real costs to a business.  Like it or not.  But apparently not. lol
Comment by monty613 on Mar 24, 2022 2:21pm
what is the cost to the business? it's largely CRH's amortized contracts which renew at expiry.
Comment by bandit69 on Mar 24, 2022 2:48pm
LOL!!
Comment by monty613 on Mar 24, 2022 2:55pm
great insights. I have explained in depth how the CRH business model works and the dep/amort is not a true expense here. why don't you share your theory as to why you oppose this view?
Comment by bandit69 on Mar 24, 2022 3:02pm
I have.  But, clearly, there's no point because love is blind.  Totally blind on this board.
Comment by Capharnaum on Mar 24, 2022 3:28pm
I don't think you can ever agree. The basic argument is: what's the best way to evaluate a business, EPS or cashflow? My own opinion is that I don't really put too much weight on EPS, I mostly care about cashflow. To each his own, I guess.
Comment by bandit69 on Mar 24, 2022 3:58pm
And yet markets eagerly await and react to earnings every quarter.
Comment by jdsd0517 on Mar 24, 2022 4:10pm
In this business model, you CAN'T use EPS to evaluate the business, you have to use cash flow analysis.  That said, you can't use adjusted EBITDA as a cash flow measure either, because it doesn't reflect changes on the balance sheet, which are material in a consolidator strategy. Another interesting question is why they aren't getting any lift on multiples?  A key part ...more
Comment by HotDiggityDogg on Mar 24, 2022 4:45pm
Very interesting point ... why do you think they are not getting the multiples ??
Comment by jdsd0517 on Mar 25, 2022 10:06am
Not sure...the glib answer would be that the market doesn't believe these companies are creating synergies, so it isn't given them a premium.
Comment by HotDiggityDogg on Mar 25, 2022 10:31am
You made a very interesting point about the other company that this CEO is involved with. ( HIRE)  that company had some very bad acquisitions which were written off soon after and messy Financials ... I wonder if HIRE and BBTV are having a negative effect over WELL and if that's the case... is that justified given they are all very different companies ...
Comment by jdsd0517 on Mar 25, 2022 11:10am
I don't know anything about BBTV (and not interested, frankly) HIRE and WELL might be in two different industries, but they are trying to run the same "capital allocator" and "consolidator" playbook.  So it is interesting to look at them in order to gauge management's ability to pull this off (particularly the WELL CEO who is involved with both).  Digging ...more
Comment by Mikerich on Mar 25, 2022 11:17am
I got burned on BBTV and bought at the IPO, knowing full well that Hamed is on the board and thought it would be a wise investment.  It went from $16 to $2 and is now considered one of the worst IPO's in Canadian history.  Yes it's a good buy now at $3.40 but Sharhzad (Hamed's ex) is not good at communicating to her shareholders on the health of the company with very few news ...more

Don't feel bad, we've all been there before including me.  The plus is, hopefully, we learn from these events and mistakes and improve in the future. Kudos to you for being open like that.  Like in most things, people only talk about the wins, never the losses.
Comment by HotDiggityDogg on Mar 25, 2022 11:50am
First thing you have written EVER that I agree with every word. Well said ... except for I wouldn't touch BBTV at 30 cents per share. I also lost big on it. They reported the revenue of content owners as their gross profit. Anyway back to WELL. Let's hope CEO does a better job on it and it doesn't end up like BBTV and HIRE.

I disagree.  But, as I have said before, what happens on one statement affects the other 2.  Revenue, balance sheet, cash flow statement are all linked.  EBITDA is a smoke and mirror show and I pay no attention to it.  Once I learned the EBITDA is a distraction it has saved me from many potential heartaches in wrong investments.   I do agree with your comments re ...more

ok cool, but what are you disagreeing with?  that you can use EPS?
Comment by HotDiggityDogg on Mar 24, 2022 1:17pm
I sold half of my position at 6$ in November, bought ARX with it (@ $12). Today ARX is 17$ and I have been getting a hefty dividend while watching my money grow with LESS risk. Meanwhile I traded WELL 3-4x; buying in low 4's and selling in 4.70-80 range. Even sold the last trade at $4.96.    I understand there are insiders here who would hold on due to stock options, etc ... but ...more

Wow man you're a genius!  Where do I sign up for the HotDiggityDogg trading seminar?  So many knobs on this board it makes me vomit.....
Comment by HotDiggityDogg on Mar 24, 2022 2:40pm
Are you not the same Knob that's obsessed with Hollyburn ... and your claim to fame is knowing someone who knows someone who once had lunch with Hamed at Hollyburn?
Comment by Mikerich on Mar 24, 2022 3:20pm
Obsessed with an uppity west van establishment?  Hardly.  And the person I know happens to be Hamed's best friend.  So yeah, to answer your condescending question, I do know someone who holds some clout among the morons on this board like yourself.
Comment by Mikerich on Mar 24, 2022 3:23pm
And you never answered my question HotDiggityDipshit - where can I sign up for your trading seminar since you're such a technical genius?
Comment by HotDiggityDogg on Mar 24, 2022 3:58pm
You're not very bright are you ...That WAS my answer... you can't ...

For anyone that is curious, here is high level snapshot of the year end process: - management prepares annual financial statements that are much more detailed than quarterly financials - auditors come in and "test" the financials to ensure that they are accurate and in accordance with accounting standards.  They will do many things, including: (i) check the bank balances; (ii ...more

Good luck all tommorrow.  I got some traders that I picked up this week.  Money I can afford to risk and gamble with.  I have already predicted what I think will happen.  Ofcourse, I could be completely wrong and I will be watching close and trading accordingly.  Cheers.
