BAM.A Sale

07:30 AM EDT, 03/19/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (BAM.A-TO, BAM) overnight Thursday said that between March 1, 2021 and March 18, 2021, it disposed of 2.44 million common shares in the capital of West Fraser Timber Co. (WFG.TO) on the TSX in open market sales for aggregate cash consideration of $207.45 million. The West Fraser shares were sold at between $80 and $88.66 each.

Brookfield held an aggregate of 20.8 million West Fraser shares, an approximately 17.2% stake, before the sales. This has now been reduced to 15.2%.

Brookfield holds the West Fraser shares for investment purposes.

Price: 56.42, Change: -0.18, Percent Change: -0.32

BAM started selling in Feb though? "From Feb.17 to Feb.26th, they sold 2,667,411 shares. From March 1st to March 5th, they sold 1,025,016 shares,leaving a balance of 1,730,605 shares. (in the unnamed company owned by BAM that has sellling)" ^ That was from Life's post a couple weeks ago and thats also when the share price started to drop under big volume so I'm sure BAM started ...more

I have been traking the BAM selling on SEDI. From Feb. 17 to Feb 26, they sold 2,667,411 From March 1st to March 12th they sold 1,761521 And from March 15th to March 18th they sold 681,800 There is a balance of 312,300 shares still being held from the BAM entity that is selling We will soon find out if the other 3 entity will be holding on or sell some of there shares. Thanks for the info Life.  BAM held 23.4M shares in Feb and now hold 18.4M shares.  Like you suggest, its probably safe to say the last 300k shares in that company will be sold today or in the next week and will be interesting to see if the next ownership vehicle starts selling.  It's not great for short term shareholders of BAM that has held the price down but it is actually ...more

Thanks for all the information gents.  While all this sounds like a bullish future.  I have to ask or mention this.  If BAM still holds 15% ish shares in WFG whats to stop them from selling another 2-3% in the furure and slamming the SP back down to earth. As an investor that makes it real tough to set your limit price if we can get to triple digits. just my thoughts  Also im ...more

Perspective, man.   Buying/selling has zero fundamental effect on firm valuation. Short run, yah, there are ebbs and flows. Should BAM sell another 3% that's 4M shares -- that's one week of regular volume. This thing trades 800k/day. I say perspective because... what's important? Risk is one side which is bad advice to me. You can find a WFT-ish co without scary BAM and hold. ...more

Dosperros, I thought I heard a microphone drop at the end of your post.  Wow , perspective is exactly what analysts are not seeing.  I for one am not selling, only buying on low purchase price opportunities.   Saldly in such a volitle market people will continue to cast doubt until the fundamentals as you mentioned in Q1,2 & 3 will not be denied and the spotlight will be ...more
