According to AI Overview, there is a BRICS token.
It is pegged to the BRICS fiat currency, which is in turn pegged to a unit of GOLD.
The price of a BRICS yesterday was $47.94.
BRICS are supposedly available on Coinbase Wallet.
Who knows what's true anymore?
If this is true, I wonder if it has any implications.

Pegged to is indexed or relative to but not necessarily convertible to. It certainly is not simple as it should be. Who's initiative is the BRICS unit on coin base? I have a Coin base wallet but it's still on my old phone. Should move it one day.

That stuff's above my pay grade. Just quoting what I read. Interestingly, the pegged thing applies to ETFs big time but nobody seems to care much. EG. some gold ETFs are fully backed by physical gold while some are merely pegged. Same with crypto.
