Time to light the fire under WPX sp

So we've got a loball offer from the Chineese.. Not unexpected. Give up control of Co? I don't think so. This will scare the %#^*^ out of all the majors.,by by Cantopex. Chineese could ramp up and supply their entire demand and do do at any price tgey see fit. WPX shareholders are not likely to give up control for .325. Despite the rapid rise in sp closer to and after the deal is done. They could delay production until it suits them and leave us in the black. Deal makers will scramble to beef up offers and JV without ceding control .. Yet.. At the very least this is a backstop which gets us into the game .. Most likely . If they ramp up production quickly then we're sitting pretty. Lots of stuff will happen before the end of Aug! I highly doubt Pat and the crew along with all of us will jump on the first offer.,too much time, effort, and $$ to walk away for a measly .325

blackwood... the statement in the NR states WPX receives strategic investment. It doesn't state receives offer. Is this a moot point and does the common SH hold enough votes to stop this from going forward ? Double the shares is certainly how Pat positoined this previously... but he has diluted previously with China Blue and looking to do the same here. Let's face it.. managment ogt ...more

It is my understanding that the revised mine plan / scoping study is the specific asset at play. As in the suitor would cough up $80mm to have a JV structure share of the 146,000 annual production for 12.2 yrs as per indicated in the study. Which also states other assets ( meaning the millions of other inferred resources etc ) are not part of any deal. Although the suitor would have the potential ...more

Will they not own 51 percent of the company?  If so they will control the entire resouce. If they bought 51 percent of a small piece of the resource then that is something totally different and would be a good deal for WPX and shareholders. Regards

blackwood, the CHC are not putting $80 million on the table for 51% of the recently announced pilot project, they are offering $80 million for 51% of the company as a whole............... Big difference............. Add that to CBCs option to re-adjust their position to remain at 19.9%, and a large majority of WPX will be Chinese owned. These 51% deals should be illegal, as it circumvents the need ...more

So what would the difference be if a Chinese firm bought 51% or if POT or RIo or Vale bought 51% or more?  There seems to be a feeling that becaue its Chinese $$ the deal should be blocked but OK if one of the other companies bought it?  RIO and VALE are foreign companies as well but all are held by shareholders likely located around the globe.

Why not buy the whole company for 86X2= 172 million.  Still a very low takeover for the  resource but it doesnt leave the smaller    shareholders at the mercy of the 51 percent owner. REGARDS

SaskKCI, whether the foreign investment is Chinese, Indian, Brazilian, or any other entity interested in Canadian potash assets, shareholders of those companies interests need to be respected. Far too many foreign investments result in the company eventually becoming private, with shareholders taking it on the chin. If these countries seriously want these assets, offer a fair price for the company ...more
