Some nice hits here, especially in the near surface operation. Hopefully Rio agrees with "The results from these nine drill holes essentially confirmed or, in some cases, improved upon historical drilling in the area. This confirmation, and in some cases an increase in grades and/or extension of higher-grade zones, are important achievements of these initial results." Seeing as ...more

Anyone good at financials and decision making?  Any reason why Rio would try to get a deal done this year for their books?  Same question about any reason they would push out to next year, or 2023?

No help hear metal.  Not my bailiwick.

Given the size, scope and time horizon of this I don't think there would be a compelling reason to get it done prior to or subsequent to year end.  I would think that if they have an interest and would like to move ahead, they should be most concerned about a competative challenge (Newmont??).  If I were interested I'd want to lock it down.

I agree, "Pine"... I cannot imagine that NEM and GOLD are sitting back and "waiting" for RIO to make a move.  The NEM and GOLD shareholders would go crazy if they are not even in competition for the purchase of one of the largest copper/gold mines in the world today!  Like I have stated previously, NEM/GOLD already have a successful partnership in a Nevada mine, so ...more

I like your thinking, Pappy. This is prime bidding war material. Timing is key. Stars or duckies align.
Comment by EvenSteven27 on Nov 29, 2021 8:12pm
Pappy, not only do I agree with you, but there are other interesting factors: the two key people for Coffee when it was owned by Goldcorp were scooped up by Newmont and given upper management position. One is a man and one is a woman. One is the Director of the current Indigenous Center in BC. Both of these people know Palmer very well and both of these people know Paul and Tara very well. We have ...more

Steven:  Great background info!  I am well aware of the Peter Toth move and agree with you 100%.  He got "passed over" and is not happy.  He will be a real supporter of a NEM/WRN deal, I would think.  I like the other "connections" that you point out that puts NEM in a real bargaining position --- especially Tom Palmer's vision vs. Jakob's goals ...more

As long as he doesn't break his NDA...it's a tightrope.
Comment by Heywood_Silvers on Nov 29, 2021 1:16pm
No deals will take place this year.  Between shareholder votes and red tape, it is at least 2 months or longer between a buyout announcement and the actual closing of the deal. RIO has the uninhibited ability for the next 11 months to pull the trigger and make a formal offer for 100% ownership of the company.  Once that window passes, they are now in the mix with all other potential ...more

Heywood-Silvers I like your numbers "it would need to be north of $10 USD" I think any buying at these prices today will be a wining bet for next year ! "My fear is, the “Resource Confirmation Drilling” does not confirm WRN,s numbers ?" Worry has come to a end with todays results, just a matter of time now. IMHO (2022) M2
Comment by jclarke042 on Nov 29, 2021 1:41pm
Given Rio's market cap, Paul's $1b price tag is a rounding error, a smaller dilution than they lose on any given "Copper/Iron Ore Down" day. Whether or not they acquire WRN is immaterial to their 12/31 valuation. If they were looking to by another international producer, it might be different. To me, Rio is only looking at political & jurisdictional risk now, and that risk ...more

IMO, test driving results can meet Rio expectations so far. If I sider buyer can act now, it will be a turning point.
Comment by jclarke042 on Nov 29, 2021 2:49pm
No insider buying in the months leading up to Rio. No reason to believe they'll start now, and IMO we should stop lamenting the fact they don't buy at market. I don't like it either, but is what it is. Plus, if they did, then we'd be all upset that News Can't Be Soon otherwise they're running afoul of SEC/IIROC guidelines.
