What's interesting here is they're partners with Codelco, Chile's state producer. What's the motive? Really environmental concerns, or will they hold it hostage for a bigger piece?

Permitting is real , not to be underestimated .some can not permit even if they give financial incentives. I hope Rio is considering stage development. If so there is a chance of the deal this year .

Sounds to me like they're considering using the copper heap leach Steve posted about over the weekend. I'm hoping that comes up at next week's webinar I posted yesterday.

Pandemic exposes the dark side of mining operation in 3rd world countries. When you are poor, you need every money grabbing exercises, and whats more majors are making record profits lately.  Whereas Columbia environmental issues, Chile expansion rejection or Peru protests by locals all boil down to corruption and bibery, IMO.  Peru protests because of yrs of broken promises, really ...more
