Webinar

Sure did not get positive vibes from Paul when he was discussing Rio.

You'd be nervous too if you had to pretend Rio was still interested ;)
Comment by MetalMinded on May 10, 2022 5:39pm
You really are dumb as a box of rocks.  Everyone has known for a very long time that completion of the MET analysis was a RIO requirement and that it wasn't complete.  We now have a timeline for completion so RIO has the final piece of the puzzle in their puzzle to make their decision.  Likely this will be by November. Recall in past interviews that RIO has been "Very ...more

Interesting because I got the felling things are still on course and there is an expectation of a full buyout. Sure he did not provide answers some were hoping for as far as maybe a deal by summer.

My view it looks like it's still on track for this year. Plus, if he seemed nervous - could it be that discussions are ongoing and that he was afraid of saying something that would reveal information that shouldn't be in the public domain...
Comment by meathead666 on May 10, 2022 6:00pm
No chance of that.

No chance of you sounding intelligent.  For once we agree.

I asked the question about Rio using Nuton. Actually a good technical response as to why it won't make sense. That said, I've no more hope for a deal this year. That interview was 98% the same as the last 483 of these webinars.  See you all when they have something new to say.

I still personally believe it will be by Nov and after the Met results are complete and fully analyzed (Q3).  Remeber that Paul has publicly stated that so far things with RIO have been great.  Unless another suitor comes in before November, RIO has no reason to abandon their plan in any way.  They are huge and processes regarding decision making are king in orgs like that.  I ...more

Paul's seemingly trying to gin up a bidding war by having the FS & Met work finish at the same time, what I can't square is how Rio doesn't try to hurry this up.

The wheels of bureaucracy in big companies really is a sight to behold... Meetings, working groups, committees, council's, and on and on - that's just for a go no go decision. After that they have to get everything lined up in order to make any bid and you are back into the bureaucracy again. It is truly amazing ;-)
Comment by MetalMinded on May 10, 2022 7:33pm
The larger the company, the deeper the bureaucracy.  As I said to meth before, I've worked for several multi billion dollar companies. It is amazing to watch and not necessarily in a good way.

Don't forget that we have people on our team rhat know the inner workings of RIO.  And Paul talks with them.  If he states and believes the current share price is a bargain, that things will be intersting this year, and that the relationship with RIO is good...it is.   We all (except Meth) want it to hit now, but patience a little while longer May very likely pay off well. what is Rio's real concern? Paul have no clue or don't want share with us. If takeover price is Rio's concern, and there is no competitor, Rio will wait and burn your (shareholders & management)patient, as I remember, Rio said they will not buy something bat the commodity peak, they will wait the commodity cold, they strike a low ball deal. If Rio concern is derisk of project, maybe ...more

except the looking for competitor, maybe Rio will pull the trigger when copper bottomed, another key variable is gold price, if gold price higher enough when staginflation happen, WRN price will also go to a high level, at that time we don't care about Rio takeover or not. And one more time, vitton, you should do something for buy from public, you should do some contribution at this time, find ...more

Is the Met work going to be done and released with the FS? Think there was a comment below that said it was later. Great if it is, more transparency and gives every other potential bidder a chance to get up to speed pretty quickly.
Comment by MetalMinded on May 10, 2022 7:31pm
No, some MET work complete, ~60%, but completion will be Q3.  RIO happy with MET results, confirming things, so far per prior interview.
Comment by dfwrgk on May 10, 2022 7:33pm
He definitely danced around a couple of questions and said, when everyone understands what all is going on, they will be happy and things will make more sense...  But in other words, he can't really comment more now. Listening live, I certainly understood him to imply there's something going on and he can't explain more. He was also very careful how he discussed the Coffee ...more
