No Volume
In the 6 trading days since the standstill expired, we've traded a whopping 750k on the NYSE, and 821k on the TSX. Total shares, not average.
Safe to assume Western & Rio signed a new standstill agreement, and any major in consideration is under an active agreement as well.

Clark - refresh my memory. Why couldn't another major acquire on open market up to a certain %? if you were Rio...what is the benefit to them of another standstill rather than just continuing to work with WRN but letting them know not interested in being tied down from acquiring more shares in open market???

Not saying another major couldn't, I'm saying if Paul has others in the data room as well, he's almost certainly made them sign one. Think about it: we wouldn't want someone coming in, looking at confidential data, then allow them to pick up 10% or whatever on the cheap. I don't know, ask Sandy. She seems to like you.

I suspect this main partly connected to the new drilling of the deep target. I am sure WRN will play out good drill as best as they can in the negotiation court. We've got the ball and it is clear Rio wants us at this point. Remaining question: how much will they pay?
