Disaster

And there's the reason for all the silence. I'll bet they've known this for weeks. No one's coming now.

And a public comment period! I'm living the Pebble nightmare all over again.

See you all late 2023.

I will respectfully disagree with you on this point, JC, although I agree with many of your postings. Casino and Pebble are completely different beasts. Pebble was very high risk, albeit mammoth deposit, from the start. Numerous parties have dumped Pebble over the years due to absolutely no social license and "buy in" from the locals. Sumitomo as well as many others have dumped Pebble ...more

The issue is time, as it always is. I'd like to cash in before I'm in a wheelchair
Comment by jclarke042 on Oct 31, 2022 8:54am
The issue seems to be, and I could be wrong here, a failure to understand, by keeping current with, the permitting regime. The very point of the Rio "enhanced due diligence," as Paul loves to descrbe this little arrangement, was to get comfortable with, and understand, permitting. At exactly the 17 month mark, they issue a terse PR basically sounding like they have to start the ...more

According the the release it is not expected to have a material effect on the permitting timeline.  So while some are trying to make a big deal of it this morning, it is in fact, not a big deal.

Get real Metal. "I don't think it'll be long for Rio to make up their minds." - 17 months and counting "No material delay to FS, expeced Q4 2021" - Issued last week of Q2 2022 "Assays early September." - nowhere in sight "Met work late 2021.....early 2022....Q2 2022.....Q3 2022.....November....." Nothing An immaterial delay in the context of ...more

Metal how can you not be unhappy with this?  Proof positive that you are a mouthpiece or pumper or whatever anyone wants to call someon3 who is not capable of critical analysis.  Period.
Comment by MetalMinded on Oct 31, 2022 9:47am
All I can say is that permitting has been a parallel process. There have been many changes in everything that goes into permitting as well as the process itself.  To think that they would just start right where they left off is a complete lack of any understanding of this process.  Again, this has ZERO to do with any buyout negotiations.  It's a parallel path as a backup, and ...more

He's talked about this so many times, you should be able to quote verbatim. "Yeah...we have a few years under our belts already...." What part of that gave you any indication they'd have to resubmit and kick off a new comment period? Those things always get dragged out & extended as well. Guess we're about to find out what the community really thinks of Casino, huh? ...more

So far today, the market, like me considers this a "nothing burger".
Comment by GardenManman on Oct 31, 2022 11:22am
so I hate the mining industry. Mach much uncontrollable factors. This time I don't complian management, it is not a good and transparent business, it is a type of betting. Switch to nasdaq. Even some tech companies fail. They have clear number to measure. Frankly, I failed on this investments waste too much time and money to miss so much opportunity. Switch some WRN position to tech at the end ...more

Comment by Pinegrove on Oct 31, 2022 10:38am
Agreed, a parallel process.  Everyone's jumped on this like it just added a year.  None of us knows what this will do to timeline, however I'd be willing to guess that it's not alot.  No one talks about all of the positive comments made by Dominic Barton or Kristina Freeland or Pierre Poilievre about shortening / fast tracking permitting in the resource sector to meet ...more

Comment by MetalMinded on Oct 31, 2022 9:44am
I can't argue with those facts.  My issue is with the lack of communication regarding delays to schedule more than the delays themselves.

jclarke42 You said  "Rio walks, turns around and offers us $2 per share. A 52% premium to Friday's close. A fair value transaction indeed."" I am at the point where I would take $2.00 US,, had enough ! It is what it is, timing sucks for a Nov buyout, all resource stocks down with the market. Only hope is that other companies that are more forword thinking come in with a ...more

Geez --- even Sooner thinks $3-$4 USD with Rio down 50% is "fair".... Didn't Newmont pay $361M for GT Gold asset ($316M usd + shares they arleady owned valued GT at $361M usd).... they have about 1/2 metal as Casino ...and i don't think grades are that much different although i haven't checked on that.  I did note they paid $17M cad for a 10% stake orginially.  ...more

Sandy reminded me, as a reference, that this same process took 4 months start to finish in 2016.   Not from Sandy, but also keep in mind, that other permitting processes continue while this is going on.  So, it should not delay much, if any, the overall permitting process. And any buyout negotiations were planned to take place while permitting process was going on ...more

I support an all share deal.  I RIO share for every 8-10 WRN shares.
Comment by dfwrgk on Oct 31, 2022 12:13pm
We all feel negative because most people on here are down, and management is not communicating much lately. We want nothing negative or even potentially negative. It's just part of the process. Re-read the press release. "Revise the guidelines"   Guidelines are revising from 2016.  Will "commence immediately and is not expected to have a material impact on overall ...more
